aris
It depends on the seller. I've bought from dx.com since 2008 - and the few times I've had a faulty item, they have either sent me a replacement or refunded me the return postage by way of a store credit. The Chinese sellers have upped their game with regards to customer service. Edited May 15, 2013 by aris
castletyne
I'll never forget the program on tv a few years back about Chinese fake Guy made a fake chickens egg
henry d
Watch out for the word 'Authentic' Mrs D bought a handbag which was described as such and was a decent amount of money, but still relatively 'cheap' Turned out to be fake, but a very very good copy, she got a full refund. I'll add that I've bought some amazing stuff from China. I got a Sky cycling jersey and bib set for £35 and they're over a £100 here. It's clearly a knockoff, but the workmanship is amazing and the fabric was spot on. Two interesting takes on it. We are prepared to accept paying £££ for the "real thing" but sometimes will not pay cheaper prices for good copies... strange old world eh? Trevorevans
Bought a 'Napier' skeet vest that was a third of the RRP at just £30. It lasted two outings before one of the rivets on the towel loop came away rendering the loop useless even though I hadn't used it and on the third outing I was on a stand and thought I felt something hit my leg as I took my first shot, then again as I took my second. By the time I'd broken the gun and looked down all the cartridges that were once in my pocket were now on the floor. Fair play though I returned it for a no quibble refund. As said by previous posters if it looks too good to be true it almost certainaly is. I mean what was I thinking? £60 off c'mon lol.
Will Poon
To be fair though there's plenty of bargains to be had on eBay if you look in the right places and know your product beforehand . If in doubt don't bid or buy
evo
I bought a ultrafire 501b torch off fleabay and funny thing was it was better than my original one or could it be that my original one was fake and the one from ping pong land was genuine,,now I am confused wasn,t bothered anyway as I changed all the internals
Mikaveli
the thing you have to avoid is high postage costs because if something turns out to be pants and you want to send it back for a refund you DONT get back the postage you paid. This applies doubly for international buys as it would cost a fortune to send. Does that still apply if they've tried to rip you off? Not being happy with the item / quality and actually being defrauded should be treated very differently (I'd have thought?).

Diceman
I bought a brand new "last season's colours" Spyder ski jacket for £25 a few years back. Retail they were about £450 so I was pretty convinced that it was a fake before it turned up but worth the risk for £25. I have looked it over inch by inch and can't spot any of the clues that normally confirm a fake from the real thing. After four seasons it has kept me toasty warm and is still in good nick so I was either very lucky and got a real one for peanuts, or the fakes are as good as the real thing. Sometimes the fakes are made in the same factory Mainly clothing the factory in china is told how many to make and who they can supply Then they just knock more out on the grey market
jonno 357
Dunno about ebay for fakes. I only use it to buy blank media and copied ink carts Fake Britain t'other morning ont telly. Guy ran a business selling organic pork pies. He was so successful he was selling them to Fortnum & Mason's. He was simply buying normal growlers from a local butcher and selling them as organic Even Fortum & Mason's got sucked eBay is full of fake gear but the sad thing is fake dodgy electrical gear. Fuse boxes circuit breakers etc etc. Again on fake britain. Young lad Mum bough a game boy charger got electrocuted and it killed him !!! Aged 7 ....................... Just work through John lewis's or debenhams and try every free sample of the aftershave. I do lol
Colc08
I work in online retail and deal with Chinese companies quite a lot. As far as I am aware there are no copywrite or patenting laws in China so they are free to rip the s@#t out of anything and sell it to some poor unsuspecting consumer. If you were an importer and the goods are counterfit the book lies with you not the manufacturer. Moral of the story is, like above posters have said, don't buy any items from China off of Ebay. aris
There are very much copyright and patent laws in China. But they often turn a blind eye, though (supposedly) they do crack down - sometimes, on leap years.
HDAV
There are the fakes (copies made to look the same as a branded product) and the ones that are the same as the real deal but the licence fee/royalties aren't paid to the owner so item is physically identical but not licensed. Counterfeit currency is a good example.... SOmetimes you get branded products made in the same factory as "pattern parts" to same specs.
