B725
Used to get 20-30 mpg from mine.
NIGHT SEARCHER
Driven sensible and mostly road work. I used to get 32 to 35 mpg. Driven off road in muddy fields and some low range work. 20 to 25 mpg. Very few 4x4s will give you good mpg.
bunny_blaster
My 200tdi 90 gives about 30 mpg but that's with a disco transfer box on it. Probably a bit more on a run.
Gordon R
I averaged 30mpg when I had one, which wasn't bad given their shape and weight.
theosmith
Excellent cheers guys my old one used to do less than 20 but that was highly modded.
Ian.S
Interesting thread since thinking of selling the Impreza and buying a County or Disco as a everyday car since the Subaru only gets 18mpg on a good day so most things should be better than that. Also I presume you can run the 200/300Tdi of 1/2 veg oil? Edited May 16, 2013 by Ian.S
landy george
I used to get average 30mpg in my 90, now it's got a 300tdi it's more like 27mpg all with a disco tranfer box.
ferguson_tom
I have an early discovery 300tdi manual, use it daily for 70 mile commute and get 29mpg day in day out. I dont drive with fuel efficiency in mind to much as even being very careful i can only just about push it to 30mpg. If you want it as a daily driver, my brother had the 200tdi and I have the 300tdi out the two i would still stick with the 300tdi as its that bit more refined and interior is nicer IMHO. If you go for an early 300tdi manual you still get the proper fuel pump and not the electronically controlled thingy. landy george
The early 300tdi auto's had no EDC. I transplanted one in my 90. You could always swop over the injection pump from a manual anyway.

Ian.S
What's the difference in Disco between 3 door and 5 door? Is it just one is slightly shorter?
landy george
One got 3 doors & the other has 5 Sorry couldn't help that one. They are the same, only good thing is the 3 door don't have rust problems on the rear arches.
mr baddoo
I used to get over 30 mpg with road tyres on, put a set of chunky mud tyres on and am now down to 25mpg. Then again you wouldn't play rugby in brogues!
