Brand New Escort Auto £275

I recently posted wanting a mint Beretta 686e and amongst other items a cheap field gun.

The Beretta is sorted cos I'm buying new ...Hoorah

Whilst in the shop, I mentioned that I was also intersted in a cheap Auto for rough and field work.

At this point the chap went into his back room and produced a synthetic Escort 12G auto, brand new with a price tag of £275. He told me that this was what alot of game keepers use cos its a great gun for not alot of money.

I have seen some old posts on this and most people agree that they are good for the money and the odd one or two say that they have had bad experiences.

Has anyone had chance to live with one for a while, how does it fare over time? Are they better or worse than when they first came out?

All views and experiences would be great.

Thanks everyone. :good:

Cant fault mine,

a lot of bang for your buck, I paid £200 to a bloke who had fired about 500 carts with it, he had to sell cause his HiLux needed some work and he had no cash, Dont worrie about the low cost it really is a nice gun for the money

 I'm getting the feeling that it's going to be worth every penny.

:good: Can anyone tell me if the latest ones have a longer stock than the older model and how will I know if what I'm being sold is a newer model and not an older one, if indeed there is a difference.

:) Thanks again people.

Is YOURS a 3 & 1/2" mag version?

I know that version has a longer stock the the standard 3"

BUT having said that Hatsan introdices a NEW escort with a TRIstock the recoil pad is in 3 parts to allow the user to lengthen or shorten the pull depending on their size :good:

The standard stocks on the 3" i have to admit ARE a tad short but thats the reason i went 3 & 1/2"

Ask your stockist if they have the new TRIstock version in yet and take a gander OR go top the Hatsan website for a look.

My understanding the 3 1/2" has the longer stock, the stock on my mates 3" is the same as or less than my sons 20 bore, if you look at Hatsans website they even quote the same length stock for the 3" as they do for the youths version - god knows why. He has been trying to get hold of the spacers that Edgars do for them.

I know 2 people with these guns and neither have ever had any problems with them BTW.

I don't think (but am happy to be corrected) they like 24grm loads too much, but the other end of the scale 3 1/2" was used with single slugs recently and did the job brilliantly.
