TJ91
An extra day of waiting us with no sunday fowling That makes my decision of where to go abit easier. Will have to be somewhere shooting is allowed on a sunday
wildfowler.250
Its easy enough to load your own lead shells, all you need is remington cases, primers, blue dot or ao powder, sp10 wads, shot, overshot cards and a rto. If you need data pm me. Thanks for that! I've heard a few people mention blue dot and sp10 wads so that sounds like a good place to start Whats the 10bore? I have found the remi nitro steel easy to get and it does the job through my s/s. Also got a few rhino lead loads incase I get a chance inland up there. My local shop has a good stock of remi nitro, sportsman and did hav a good few boxea of rhino Not cheap but well worth it in my eyes. I cant outshoot a 12bore but its not about extra range for me, the 10 is just a lump i love to shoot. I was planning on reloading bismuth or ITX but i see no reason too yet. The steel loads can do the job at ranges I aren't yet confident at, until i am comfortable and more confident in myself I wont spend the extra Thanks! It's a Basque sbs. I have to say I love using it but I've run out of shells for it! last time I went out I dropped a mallard, wigeon and 3 teal with it,(it seems to scare the geese away and attract the ducks but I wont complain). I think I'll stock up on some rhino shells. I was wondering if they'll be a pretty slow shell though if its crammed with 63g of lead! Ahh, snap, my Basque has seen better days but it still shoots straight (and safely may I add!) I have put a few of the rhino loads through myne now..only at crow's so far though..hit 5 out of 8 which is unheard of for me haha. They were all long shots 55+ yrds, they were definitely dead! I had my chokes opened to 3/8s and it suits the remi nitro steel well, throws a great pattern at 50yards, the rhino loads also pattern well enough for my personal max range

Pole Star
Well I have 2 fields of new grass one in front of my home & one below running down to the loch all ready except poor old GWP getting too old for the job so I think its going be a bit limited this season until I get a new dog trained up . Well thats life & she has gone over her limits now , she might be ok for a bit of decoying away from the water but this has to be her last year . Oh dear . Oh dear . sad when a dog suddenly starts to show its age my wire haired Viszla will be 12 at the start of this season, he still seems as daft as always but the facts are that he cannot have much longer as a full working dog. He is still seems very fit so I will keep working him as normal except to cut back on the days beating.

anser2
My last golden retriever was still doing easy days regulary until her 14th year . I took her out on a short walk 100 yard from the car 3 months before she died at 16 though the young dog did all the work. But it was nice to see the old dogs tail; waging when i shot a mallard and she semed to enjoy being given the dead duck to carry back to the car once the younster retrieved it from across a couple of creeks. Grandalf
Due to my small syndicate of fowlers being at the mercy of Natural England we still don't know if we will be allowed to shoot or not. Told last year that we would be given the results of yet more 'research' on our marsh immediately after the last season ended we are still waiting. Get the same problem year after year after year. Promised decision by 1st July - Still waiting. God how I wish they would be wrapped up under the lack of money problems that the government currently has. They/he has to be anti shooting and out of control to treat tax payers in this way. We have shot this marsh for over 25 years - long before NE bought it - and get treated like dirt. Thing that really hurts is that we pay their/his wages! Edited July 3, 2013 by Grandalf

Thing that really hurts is that we pay their/his wages! Reference the above. Got a reply at last. The application has now been referred to the 'national specialists' of NE who hope to reply by the 24th July. There are now just six and a bit weeks to go and we have taken one large pace backwards. Have these 'specialists' been told that we have been on the marsh since 1986? Have they been told that we urged NE to purchase the marsh way back in 1996 provided our interests were protected? Will they contact us to ask our views? - That one I can answer! How a government organisation is allowed to treat the public the way they do is beyond belief. Getting close to contacting local MP to see if he can do something to assist.

Grandalf
I would be onto your MP now. If your MP is anti shooting/fowling one could get deeper in the doodoo... All these agencies/people are supposed to be neutral. I'll believe that one when I meet one. They all say that they are pro sustainable shooting...Their actions say otherwise. scolopax
NE caused us no end of grief on the Humber a few years ago with consents and their interpretation of the precautionary principle. We manged to meet them somewhere in the middle but still lost shooting areas. They were very very difficult to work with.
