Marcusfisher123
I do some rabbit shooting with my air arms s200 and at the moment i use JSB exact pellets, but i was wondering if i would be more successful with a different pellet and if so what ones. Cheers, Marcus. Edited June 10, 2013 by Marcusfisher123

karpman
Hello mate, I like the s200 nice gun. The most successful pellet will be the one that is most accurate through your gun. Head shots at sub 50 yards will stop em all day long, just make sure you can nail the head. Plenty of practice on paper will bring the results you desire. chrisjpainter
it's all about the grouping. if it groups well, then stick with it! accuracy is the key. Some people like a heavy pellet - Bisley Magnum, H&N Barracuda or the like - to give a bit more knock-down power, but really it's about hitting the bunny in the right place. Totally agree.Good info from Chris there. I use Bisley Magnums in my Daystate Air Ranger cos they suit the barrel therefore giving precision accuracy! ATB. Underdog
I don't buy into the extra knock down power theory. Different pellets behave differently yes but at the end of the day there is such a small amount os energy that it/they have to be precisley applied. Use the meanest looking pell if you wish but if it does not pass through a vital organ there will be no more knock down effect from it than another pellet. An air gun pellet to my undetstanding is not much different than a stabbing implement! It has to be applied accuratly to be effective quickly to disrupt vital nerve activety or sudden drop in blood pressure. Put another way, any theory of extra knock down goes out the window with a poor shot placement period. U.
LeadWasp
I like H&N Barrucuda Hunter Extremes in .177 - work really well in my Weirauch 100 together with JSB's and Bisley Magnums. I go for the Barracuda's as having dug a few out they really do 'stop' inside old Bugs. They give a funny horizontally distributed group (but tight) in both .177 and .22 (BSA Hornet). Bisley Magnums group best but I'm not a fan of diabolo-like pellets for hunting. ...but as ChrisJPainter says it's all about where the lead is applied! This is the truth ^^^^ virtually any pellet that you can shoot consistently accurately will do the job. Cheers Karpman The man speaks the truth i used to have a BSA that would group well with marksman pellets ( they even look bad ) when nothing else would, unfortunately for my pocket they all seem to like JSB exacts too. Testified by the rabbit that i got this afternoon Buy some pellets to test if you want to spend an afternoon slingling them at targets to find out if there is a better pellet out there. Zetter
Anything that gives you the best groups really. Its all about that with air rifles if you can put the pellet where it needs to go you are there. My BSA used to love bisley mags but they never dropped anything better than the diablo fields I used in my 510 even though they were heavier. -Mongrel-
I particularly like the AirArms Fields as not only are they accurate, but they are consistent straight out of the tin. But it's all about what works in your gun.
Scottoj18
My s200 really likes daystates rangmasters 14.3gr light but super accurate .. Mines in 22 with a mag and I find sum pellets fussy feeding ...
NIGHT SEARCHER
Watch the Fieldsports Britain one on shooting rabbits it is very good. Verminpell came out best. A lot better than accupell ??. I do a lot of vermin control and yes shot placement is very important. But I use a lot of soft lead pellets because they dump there kinetic energy into the target. So you get a small entry hole and a large exit hole if it dose exit. I use .177 .22 .25 cal And there is a massive difference in the knockdown power of pellets. .177 = 8.5 grain .22 = 16 grain .25 = 27 grain and hit like a sledgehammer. It`s the impact value of the pellet that makes all the difference. The shock wave from a heavy pellet will destroy a heart. lungs. or brain. And blood vessels. Have a look at www.pelletperfect.co.uk if you want to try different pellets to find the most accurate.
