I got to bed at 8am this morning and was awoken at about 11.45 by the sound of the smoke alarm and the smell of acrid smoke.

Dashed downstairs in me undies calling for my son ready to evacuate the house,

He was in the smoke filled kitchen with the window and the front door open and was desperately trying to fan the smoke out of the door/window with a tea towel,

turns out he'd decided to try and bake me a cake from scratch, he'd got his lap top and found a recipe for sponge (or a sponge frisbee at least)

He'd then put chocolate in a bowl, put it in the microwave for 4 minutes to melt it and it has turned into a carbon deposit in a bowl that could almost be a diamond in the forming.

I had 2 cards and chocolates from my lads. I then went out clay shooting. Got back then went out for a carvery lunch. Kids under 10 eat free. Big mistake as my 9 year old eats more than most adults and went back for seconds! Got home and parked myself on the sofa and watched the moto gp. I will take the dog out later and that will round off a pretty good day.

It's the thought that counts
