fenboy
I will be starting a long and illustrious wildfowling career this season and need to start getting the basic bits and pieces I need . What do you experienced fowlers use to park your backside on while waiting for a shot
Big Mat
Dog food sack, or game bag. More often than not i sat on nothing and got wet and muddy...
TJ91
I always wear waders...I just sit down on them. Mud washes off them easy enough.
-Mongrel-
I use a barrel. It holds all sorts of bits and bobs that I want to keep dry and when I want a pew it's either upright in a gutter, on it's side when I need to be a bit lower or occasionally becomes a head rest. Suits me. My mate has a thick bit of polystyrene type stuff, keeps his bum warm and dry but I like the multi-functionality of my barrel. It has handles that makes carrying manageable or a harness to 'rucksack' it when I don't have a bergen full of deeks.

fenboy
I have some neoprene chest waders but dont fancy going for a long hike in them at the start of the season, they get a tad warm. The dog food bag sounds like it will fall in my price bracket
Big Mat
Fenboy, if ayano3 ever suggest you sit in the stone hide, take a cushion to sit on, its a tad uncomfortable I bought a massive game bag which i usually let the dog sit on, keeps the dog happy! Damn good game bag as well

Wear a belt with them, it allows you to roll the top half down without them slipping down your thighs. Makes a bit of a march tolerable, I won't say comfortable, but tolerable. I use a cartridge belt.

Fal
Get yourself a beer crate!!! The older type are better, they hold your weight without bending. Use a bunjee cord to carry it round your back, it holds sturdy in the mud and gives you just enough height if you stand to take your shots. If you want a bit of comfort, cover it in an old seat cover form an old table and chairs. Very light and easy to carry!!

Pole Star
Which way up do you prefer it? Well if you are daft enough to sit on the spike end expect a trip the A&E . As I have a peg leg I have to improvise & make life easy .
ayano3
You won't need to sit down, you will be up to your neck in water haha. Game bag for me.
TJ91
Don't try it in thigh boots though! Wouldn't make that mistake, I have always worn chesties. Neoprene when its really cold and only when its a short walk. Cheap pvc ones for start of season and longer walks.
Pole Star
A simple seat is a plastic 5 gal drum inside an army style kit bag with a hole cut in the drum so you can put bits a bobs inside then sling it over your shoulder as you walk to your shooting site . All it will cost is the price of the kit bag & a plastic drum can be scrounged any where .
