Gay marriage: Peers approve legislation

Ok not gay for a start

Even in this modern day where being gay is becoming trendy i still believe most parents would prefer it if their children did not turn out to be gay and it would bother most

I have nothing against anyone who is gay but i will never view being gay as normal

I think its just the first step in forcing churches to marry gays

That is the end goal for the gay rights groups pushing for this

I don't think the christian religion is popular nowadays but being a queer is so the goverment will jump on it

I have an 19 yr old son who is a shockingly handsome 6 foot tall well built man who always seems to be surrounded by all his very good looking female friends,he was the top pupil in his school and the county for that matter, and is now at university studying hard and achieving top grades in everything he does, did i mention he has had two short stories published, and also won an award for a short white board animation against bullying.

About two years ago my Son plucked up courage and told his mum he was gay,and asked her to tell me,he was probably frightened that his ex squaddie, now bailiff dad would go ape.

Did it bother me?why should it,i was there when he came into this world, i have nurtured him as he has grown up,and been the proud father all along,i will be at his side should he need me as long as my body is capable of doing it,I am immensely proud of him and could not give a fig about his sexual orientation.

He would love to chat to a few on here, i would give you a few minutes before he had you tied in knots and embarrassed at yourselves,he has a cutting wit and sarcasm is a speciality,he is intelligent beyond his years.

Grow up people stop being so narrow minded, not everyone likes sugar in their tea.

That should shut a few people up.

Bet you're not the only person on PW in a similar, or related position.

The dynamics all change then don't they people?

no he's not, we have a gay in the family too  and it doesn't make a blind bit of difference to us.

just to add, she doesn't give a monkeys about the gay marriage bill though, our thoughts are that cameron is a bit of a useless ***** and this is all he can manage.

We have one too, not spoken for 22 years but that is related to how she treated my mum and dad when she divorced my brother-in-law, not her sexuality.

Welsh 1 as i pointed out some posts back, love for our children is unconditional. I think Cameron is using as a vote grabber with the gay community though.

I also have a couple of mates who are gay,one of them did 5 years in the FFL and 6 years in the Army, the disdain that some show to other human beings is shocking, not everyone can be the same, and if you can show the sort of revulsion and comments such as"not normal"it makes me think what people like that think of anyone not exactly like them.

Some people need to get over themselves.

As a bloke said to my son in a pub "i'm glad i'm not gay like you" my son replied that he was"thankful i'm not ugly like you"

The bloke took offence and tried to punch my son,how silly did he look with his legs swept out from under him hitting the floor and in an arm lock by my son,all that judo does pay off.The bloke's mates laughed at him when my son told him to remember he had been beaten by a gay man,and the bloke was thrown out of the pub.

Never judge a book by it's cover, give anyone a chance, and later if they turn out to be a waste then tell them before you walk away.

All very interesting stuff, wonder why so much emphasis is being put on all of this when it is seriously going to offend people of certain ethnic orientations that absolutely abhor homosexuality, particularly when to supposedly appease such people we can't do some perfectly reasonable things entrenched in English Christian history?

Maybe slightly off topic.

Before anybody makes the accusation I'm not homophobic although I have to admit I do hate that Peter Mandelson!!

if I'm honest, that is part of the reason I'm supportive of gays getting married. its an expression of an equal society. exactly the kind of society that a certain religious group would seek to suppress through its inherent intolerance. I'm all for intolerance of this!

Me too Rooster, but not for his sexuality but for his hypocrisy, like many new communists, he did not live by the same rules he wanted others to live by and got caught at least twice.
