keg
What are you doing giving your tablet a holiday? More to the point why are you on this poor tablet if you gave it a holiday, that's just mean! If you're going to give it time off, then do so! Or, you need to seek medical advice if this tablet you are on, on holiday, has negative grammatical side effects! However if you had written this: My excuse is that I am, on a tablet, on holiday; or My excuse is that I am on holiday, using a tablet We might not have got the wrong end of the stick And there is the problem, it's a BlackBerry PlayBook and the touchscreen is pants. I type as normal but it does not always sense every key touch and sometimes I cannot be bothered to undo all the typing. It was a freebie so I'm not complaining. Big Marty
I get it all the time at work....no please or thank you after you have helped them.... worse is when they see you and just say.."oh you are just security you wont know" ...then go off and find a staff member who then asks me Ha that sounds so familiar, You would be standing on the door and some stuffed shirt would begin to ask you something and his **** wife or mate would say, no point asking him what's he going to know. Then at the end of the night when they have went out and forgotten there £500 Jacket and try and get in again REVENGE. sorry I can't let you back in,followed by please can I just get my jacket followed by,you'll have to come back and see the manager tomorrow cause really what would I know. armsid
manners cost nothing I take people at face value whether their grammer is good or bad.some of the best people I have known could not read or write but they still had respect and good manners .A lot people climb the social ladder and forget their begginings .it is along way down and it is supprising how people change attitudes when your in a position to help them and then suddenly forget. Pinkella welcome from an ex Coventry kid forget the grammar it,s who you are that counts
keg
Banter apart, you are right. As my sainted mother says " money doesn't buy breeding". I'd like the money and I'll get on with the breeding. After 6 pages, do we all agree that the till operator in the press a few weeks ago was correct in not serving the customer who was chatting on the phone as she went through the till? walshie
English literature may not be everyone's best subject at school but I'm sure most of us can understand what the person is meant to write/type English Literature = The works of Shakespeare, Dickens etc. English Language = Speaking and writing well English. Plenty of others aren't so lucky. I frequently produce reports/quotes/invoices etc and I'm certain that if they appeared to be written by a 12 year old I'd get less work! Fortunately I went to a good enough school and applied myself enough to enable me to read, write and carry out sufficient mathematics to get by. A bit OTT there Mongrel, in fact bordering on "head up your own ****" I can think of a million things that make a good person, and spelling correctly isn't one of them!! I'm sure it wasn't meant like that Cos, I also have to draft documents that must stand up to scrutiny from pedants etc and it's not nice. I have to re-check even a three line email over and over again as i have zero confidence in my written english. My spoken english sucks as well! Ralphster
can't stand it when shop folk are ignorant,my biggest gripe is if they're on the phone whilst trying to serve.the best thing to do is leave the shopping on the counter and walk. Also in a jack reverse it way, I notice ignorant customers who are on the phone whilst at the till, if was serving them I might just hold out my hand waiting for the money! I dont mean that you do that by the way Red Beard lol
