njc110381
After using these D&J cartridges I bought, I'm not buying them again. Filthy things, took me ages to get my barrels clean! I've been looking at Gamebore white gold XLR fibre. The price seems reasonable, and the clear pigeons they make are very good. What do you think of them? Are there any others you'd recommend? beatingisbest
The gamebore white gold XLR's are good I can get them for a very good £80 per 1000 When my SGC comes through that is
dodeer
Where in Hants can you get them for that? Currently paying £114 per 1000 for them.
pin
Rio target load 28g 7.5 shot @ 106/1000 from Park Street.. Rio supertrap as above slightly more, £114 I think
njc110381
I've seen a few at the club using Rio. Not sure if there are any local stockists though, some of them buy tens of thousands at a time

Markio
I've used white golds before but on one trip my supplier had run out so i got Blue Diamond instead. The blue diamonds kick a lot less. I paid £122 for 1000. I still ask for Blue diamonds as i'm happy with them.
pin
Tried the blue diamonds and I couldn't hit anything with them, patterned them with my white onyx and at any range they didn't fair well..
njc110381
Not a good sign for me then. You have the same barrels as me probably
Gordon R
Rio are D and J . plastic - impressed. Felt - absolute garbage.
pin
Funny, I shoot 80/85ex100 sporting and won a competition today using them. Depends a lot on what you like, what your gun patterns like and all the rest of it. Having only been in this "game" for 6 months, its extremely interesting to hear from people who don't get on with a cart I do - and I wonder how much of it is perception? Finnclassic
I use Hull Sovereign extended range fibre, which are outstanding. I use size 8 for everything at that velocity they break even the longest clays. They are about £148/1000 but hey, are we shooting for economy or fun? Dunkield
Express HV Fibre Quite smooth (through my Beretta at least) and they take out long edge on clays, so you can't say fairer than that.
dunganick
i use hull intercomp and like them very much. i used blue diamonds untill recently and found the opposite...... they threw very good patterns. However they changed the recepie a few months back and they were no longer the lowish recoil cartridge i wanted. Tried some of tosspots Hull fitasc? carts and they were very smooth and seemed to do their job when i did mine. Personally dont like D + J's although ive been told they pattern well. But too much recoil for my liking. The gamebore white XLR's and F2's are good, if not quite heavy recoiling cartridges.
Catamong
My advice is don't use fibre wads unless you have to, because they don't hold their patterns as well as Plaswad shells and you won't break as many clays using them. pin
Good advice, I don't think anyone would use fibre if they had a choice.
njc110381
So I should stick to the Eley olympic trap that I get on well with then. I'm sure I can manage that on the larger clay shoots that allow them. I'll get a handfull of white golds for clubs that are fibre only. I'm not 100% convinced that fibres pattern badly though, my clear pigeons that I use at the farm give a fairly even spread
pin
Fibres don't pattern as well as plastics, its scientific fact.
BobGee
Ive been using Eley "Blues" for some time now, a nice cartridge that breaks what it hits and not too much recoil. Having looked around I find they do a fibre wad as well, bought some of these and although I dont know about long range, at my normal club shoot they feel and behave exactly the same as the plastics, good price as well.
