jam1e
As above folks. I currently use an Air Arms S410 for my NV work inside a grain barn to sort out the rats. However, the S410 is just too long for the confines of the storage barn. Normal daylight outs, the rifle is the dogs! And amazingly accurate! I couldn't recommend the S410 highly enough! But i need a very short pcp air rifle that i could either px my S410 for. Or buy the new "shorty" and sell the S410 after on a forum... Either way, I would appreciate some ideas on what very short air rifles there are out there at a reasonable price. Bearing in mind, the main purpose of the air rifle is just "ratting" and maybe the odd walk around the barns for roosting pigeons. The rest of the time I us rimfire and centrefire. I appreciate small means a likely big loss in shot count per fill. But that isn't an issue. In fact, 20 shots per fill would be enough, as the dive bottle is only 20 yards away in the car.... I did manage to find a maybe, which is the Falcon FN8 model with a carbine stock pictured below. Maybe, a little too nice just for ratting? But i'd like a few peoples opinions on what is available out there that would suit my needs. So what "short" rifle would you people recommend? atb Jamie Edited September 1, 2013 by jam1e

jam1e
Falcon FN12, wish I had never sold mine! Thanks for the reply. It looks around the same size as my S410. Or is there a Carbine short version of the FN12? Any idea of the overall length? Lots of info online but not that? jam1e
BSA Super 10 Bull barrel. Again thanks for the reply. But as per the FN12, there's lots of online info, but nothing on over-all length so i can see if its worth the change...
RED BEARD
wasn't there an fn8? that was very short, think the shot count was low though. sorry, only half read your original post. RED BEARD
what about bullpup'ing the s410?
jam1e
what about bullpup'ing the s410? That does sound appealing Red! However, it's likely to cost me extra money, rather than buying a bullpup and recouping the cost of the gun by selling or "swapping" my S410. However, I would have the benefit of knowing my S410 is a "good-un", with no hidden problems... Red, any idea of the cost of converting my S410? Or maybe you could point me in the right direction of a previous conversion that's been done that you know of?? atb Jamie
RED BEARD
try looking on google images for a s400/s410 bullpup.also ring or email anyone does the conversions,i'm sure a&m customs do them as i was thinking of ringing them myself to see how much it would cost to convert my rapid. NIGHT SEARCHER
I would keep the AA S410 and get a Crosman Ratcatcher for inside barns and pig sheds. There`s loads for sale on Gun Watch www.gunstar.co.uk You will get one for about £100. They are just the ticket for inside barns they do about 9 10 ftlb has standard. And very short. They are very tunable up to 12 ftlb Loads of mods out there adjustable power. Have a look on YOU TUBE there`s loads of vids. On tuning them. They may be cheap but they pop Rats for fun. And the best of it you get to keep your S410. Ho and my BSA Super 10 bull barrel is 34 inches of quality from the butt to the end of the barrel. And they are regulated so no power curve and well over 100 full power shots per charge. Edited September 1, 2013 by NIGHT SEARCHER
Wiggum
What about a stealth or a verminator both are short with the bottles on the rear acting as the stock and plenty of shots per fill. Or maybe a BSA Ultra again quite compact and reasonable shot count. Edited September 1, 2013 by Wiggum
NIGHT SEARCHER
Have a look at the Brocock Contour. 6 shot mag and a very short Rifle 1/2" unf thread for Silencer.

Zetter
Another vote for an FX Verminator either MK1 or 2 stupidly short and with a massive shot count.

Muddy Funker
Falcon FN12, wish I had never sold mine! Ditto, That was one of my favourite guns I've ever owned. It's sale and after a few trade ups ultimately led to an HW100 but I really miss the FN12
Theskyfox
If its only short range..and you need something very small, have you considered an air-pistol? Something like a Rohm twinmaster? its a PCP, 6ftlbs (more than enough at those ranges) and very accurate and compact. Looking online can pick them up for about £375 secondhand too... -Andrew

fse10
410 tdr you already know how good the 410 is, so the tdr has the same lay out just shorter I have the 410k & did have the tdr but sold it to fund some bite alarms wish i'd have kept it as a great gun. Zx12rash
Fn12. I love mine. As was said you can get an fn 8 generally more expensive. Get on the falcon owners forum. Recoil on there will be able to tell you the full length of all falcons. I'm 100% that it's shorter that a 410 buy s long shot
Amazed
Fn8 - ultra - but to be honest why bother just take the silencer off your s410 and it's short enough.
