Hi guys,

After a touch of help here, bought a gun from a well known gun shop a few weeks back.

Fac air, I get it home fill it buy morning it's empty. No worries fill it run It through a chrono and its all over the place dropping 100 ftps over 5-7 shots another fill few more shots and the cocking action locks up.

Quick inspection and the hammer housing has been milled off at the end a new hammer turned and fitted so it don't sit right and locks up. Ring the shop take it back long old trip.

2 weeks later its ready to pick up get it back tonight run a few shots all over the place then action locks up. Take stock and its dripping in oil and I mean dripping.

Action locked up pellet stuck in chamber.

These shops are supposed to sell used guns for for purpose surely I now have a safety issue and another long drive how should I play my next move.

You have given them a chance to fix it and by the sounds of it they did a bodge job and had the cheek to give it back to you. Sounds like they gave it a squirt of WD40 and hoped for the best....

Take it back for a full refund, it's not fit for purpose. These things are always a PITA when on an FAC, you'll have to sign it back to them and then get a 1 for 1 variation.....

You have bought an expensive item, you should expect the shop to be interested in your problem, courteous and get the damn thing fixed...not bodged.

Thinking along them lines. How do i get one with it being signed on my ticket? Just sign it back and ok to go buy another?

Pretty gutted to be honest.

Sorry to be the bearer of bad news, but you have to put in to your firearms dept for a 1 for 1 variation. It means you will have to sell it/have the shop take it back. Then get form filling. You have to notify the FLO of the sale/transfer. Then fill out (down here anyway) the firearms licence application form, with just about all the details AGAIN!! Pretty much the only bit you don't have to do is get referees and photos again. Post it off, no fee as its a 1 for 1. It will come back with the slot free to enable you to start again. It depends how efficient your force is. I'm lucky, surrey did my last two variations in a week. Others on here have had to wait months!

Good luck, hope you get it sorted. Out of curiosity, what make of rifle was it?

I had an issue with a second hand air rifle loosing pressure after going in for a fix at the shop I bought it from the problem still occurred

The shop offered a full refund then knocked a substantial amount of the price of a new air rifle which I purchased to compensate for the trouble I had.

Dolphin Stoke on Trent great service.

So I'm ok to go down to the gun shop hand the rifle back get refunded and put in for a 1 for 1 Monday.

And the. I have to wait for my ticket to arrive again before I can go shopping again?

I will be naming and shaming in a bit when I have it sorted. Terrible service from the start and not expecting it to get much better.

In addition to the above, I would Email your FEO immediately and tell him of your predicament, that way there is a record of what is happening.
