malkiserow
Earlier this year I saw loads of them in Austria, didn't pay much attention but they were really taking off there and they get loads of snow etc. I was killing a few minutes the other day and one pulled up near me in the road..... so I took a look. I expected it to be **** (not the best quality). But, it actually seemed quite good. Anyone got any experience of these good or bad? BTW...... I am not going to buy one..... just curious

malkiserow
I think it might be Renault ? The platform is certainly from a Clio but beefed up suspension etc. Edited September 18, 2013 by malkiserow

four-wheel-drive
they are cheap to buy where do they make them I think they are French but at the prices that they quote I would not expect them to be made in France.

Balian
I have seen a few driving baout, they are not that bad looking and prices are very good. But I couldn't drive anything with a big 'DUSTER' sign stuck to the back. Did no-one do research before they picked a name?
Whitebridges
Saw three different ones on the M25 at the weekend. All new-ish. The price is keen at £8,999 for a new motor. Agree, the name is appalling!

Livefast123
The engine and chassis are both Renault with the 1.6 16v petrol and 1.5 dci 110 diesel. 4x4 system is from Renault / Nissan alliance, it's the tried and tested unit from the Qashqai. Well that sounds like it has some pedigree behind it. Does it have diff locks on it as I assume it is permanent 4x4 ?
Livefast123
As far as I'm aware it doesn't have a diff lock, it has a selectable 4x4 system with 3 modes ~ 2wd, automatic and 4wd. I'm possibly looking to buy one if I can save my pennies, mind you a top of the line one is about 15 grand.

In a year or 2 they will be half price secondhand

Tried and tested in a Clio yes fine but in the qasqai not on your nelly, I had a Brand new 1.5dci teckna it had to have two engines within 80k miles, the power is to wound up in the Nissan qasqai to high way more than in a Clio , the aa guy who picked me up stranded on the m25 said he picked one up a week and all had the same problem"catastrophic engine failure" both mine blew the con rod in the 3rd cylinder , Nissan wanted 5k for a new engine, as I leased mine through RBS they got told to **** off and put both engines in foc

keg
Dacia was originally Romanian if I remember rightly. Most of the reviews seem to say that there are okay for the price. My personal choice would be a second-hand x-trail or if something hardcore is needed, a pickup or a defender.
