Crows and a rabbit with Pigeon Man

Hello,

So Joe and I went to his permission again on the crows. It was an early start to try and catch some duck but no such luck unfortunately. We saw around 25 flighting in and around the area.

It was another early start. We meet up at the usual place and transferred gear from my car into his bus at 6am then set off to the perm arriving for 6.15. We threw the decoys out and started blowing the primos.

We managed around 45 crows 3 feral pigeon and a rabbit. We lost some of the crows and pigeon in the slurry strip.

I took the rabbit home and prepped it for the pot under the instruction of a Mark Gilcrest Youtube Vid! Pretty tough going TBH. Hopefully next time will be better.

I am in the process of making a game pie. I have Duck - Pigeon and now rabbit. Hopefully I will have a pheasant come the beginning of the season.

Thanks Joe, :good:post-61077-0-28206600-1379944569_thumb.jpg

Good shooting..!

I'm up to 67 rabbits now with my airgun, believe me, it gets easier and you get well drilled at preparing them. They still take me 20 minutes each though to oven/freezer ready standard. My Dad when ferreting used to slit the gut up and swing them out by holding the front legs and bringing the rabbit round in a swift arc. I tend to take the feet off mine, then skin and head it leaving the gut in until the end. Don't let a skinned rabbit touch any newspaper..!!!! Sticks to them like STA blanket...

WAS IT FUN......

well shot don't bother soaking the rabbit there fine without the need of bloating it with water ..why not try the crows....

Yes I enjoyed it very much. The crows are pretty wary now seen as joe has had thousands off there so a bit more skill and reconnaissance needed to have them commit to the pattern.

I soaked the wabbit already so it's been cooked and stripped ready for rabbit pie.
