Wildfowler12
It took me 3 years to gain my only permission. I'm not the only one on there and I'm fine with that, but I called at the farm for a look round today and must have picked 50 spent cartridges up. Then I came across an area which had clearly been used as part of the hide. It was littered with food wrappers and empty coffee cups. To make it worse I then found a load of freshly shot pigeon dumped in the nearby ditch. No wonder it's so hard to gain permissions if this is what farmers have come to expect of shooters!! Arrrrrgh!! Rant over, I feel slightly better now.
Dirty Harry
Just make sure the farmer knows it was not you who let it all.
shoot and be safe
Not good practice that. +1 on the above.
Bleeh
Collect it all into a plastic bag, go tell the farmer, show him the evidence. There's every chance you'll get the blame and loose the shooting.
Wildfowler12
Yeah, I went to see him on the way off. I was quite embarrassed to be honest, even though it had nothing to do with me! I felt like a right grass but it had to be done.

demonwolf444
Wildfowler12 - Some other countryside users make you wonder, filled my game bag with bloody litter the otherday. despite the area being private land. Also really appreciate picking half burnt tents, areosols, and broken chairs out of the woods where chavs have been "camping".
beeredup
yup its not good behaviour and it certainly brings shooters into disrepute i always pick up spent cartridges whether i am out shooting or a come across them while out walking my dog, one thing that really steams my barnacles is not really shooting related but why would some one bother to pick up their dogs cr&p in a plastic bag and then throw it in a tree??? is there some perverse sexual deviants thrill from this? or those idiots who miss the bin with it?? the mind boggles
Guest cookoff013
i once got told off for leaving spent shells everywhere. turns out they are 20gauge.... then the farmers brother turned up. showing everyone the best shells in the world. 20gauge RC sipe. same shells as the litter. Katzenjammer
You did the right thing and report any further transgressions or odd things you find. We do. A gift at Christmas does not go amiss - a decent malt and suchlike. We have had some long chats recently with the farmers and family and employees on our permission. We always have, of course, but over the past few months we have been given no doubts about the regard they hold us in (and we them). We have strived hard to build up such a trusted and mutually respected relationship. The farmers have only just recently reminded the syndicate on the land around their farm to keep off their land as we are the only people allowed to hunt on there. They have also told the local hunt to keep their dogs and horses off their land - again as we are the only hunters allowed on. A few weeks ago I asked them if they thought we respected the land, their livelihood, their stock, them and their family and employees. This was after a discussion about transgressors of various kinds including the syndicate and the hunt. They laughed and said "Put it this way, you are still here, if we did not think that then you would not be standing here now! Now come and advise me on my tomatoes and the veggie garden we have set up as you are an allotment holder."

12boreblue
When I had my little permission granted, I found years of old cartridges in the areas the former shooter pitched his hides, but on a good note I found 15 plastic decoys he left lying around the place. keg
All of my permissions are very good friends and would never want to compromise that.
remmyman
I take pride in doing a good job in all walks of life. I've worked hard over the last 30 odd years to become the best shot that I can be (first and foremost to ensure a clean kill as often as poss). I take pride in the knowledge and fieldcraft that I've garnered in that time. I take pride in treating the 'slain' with respect and do all that I can to ensure that they reach the table/ gamedealer etc in as good a condition as possible. And last but certainly not least I take pride in leaving my permissions as I found them (save for feathers etc) some of which I've had since 1980! so hopefully I am doing something right. This attitude, to me, is a result of treating all of these things with RESPECT and if you do that you wont go far wrong. It's just a shame that some others see this wonderful sport/pastime as little more than a few hours diversion from their iphones, tablets, and laptops etc. But as I've said before it's 'either in you or not'. Anyway, well done you, Wildfowler12 for caring enough to write up your disgust at these so-called 'pigeon shooters' and to remind others to act appropiately at all times.
