mossberg-operator
So, it seems I'll have an interview for shooting rights (actually permission, thx for correcting me) on Monday with a farmer, who is a business partner's parent. I never done this before, got no experience. Downloaded form from here to sign by him, getting him a bottle of good red which I know he likes, my insurance sorted, got my business card, will dress smartly. Anything else? Any good advice welcomed! Thank You guys! Edited October 9, 2013 by londonercsecse
Disco Stu
Extra pair of eyes about the place. Won't leave any rubbish / litter, close gates, report injured / dead livestock. Offer farmer some shot game. Sort out a phonecall / text system to let them know when you will be on. Good luck!
TIGHTCHOKE
Be on time, check what you will be allowed to shoot and more importantly anything that you are NOT! If you have an Ordnance Survey map of the area take it to look at boundaries. Good luck
pegasus bridge
Do a bit of research about his farming activity. Ie: land, crops, be aware of what will likely by bothering him pest wise on those crops and at which time of year. Apologies if this is obvious ! The Essex Hunter
One bit of advice...this time of year things are slowing down but just don't get too busy on the farm with bits of info you might think is important and he most certainly wont as he has been running it his was for a long time with out you... find out what and not to shoot stick to that, turn up don't make a mess and go home... You will get away with a bit of a chat this time of year but if he is working/busy next harvest then keep out the way. good luck TEH

sitsinhedges
Don't discuss shooting rights when you mean shooting permission, there's a big difference and talking about rights might just annoy the landowner. I'd leave any bottles of booze til xmas too so you don't make the farmer feel under any obligation and you've actually got something to thank him for. Good luck.
