kent
I've owned a quie a few auto's in the past and at some point they have all failed do to mud n crud or they didnt like a certain cart but my supernova has had it all and NEVER let me down yet !!!! Yet at the last wildfowling club clayshoot a guy was experiencing a lot of issues with his Supernova, a guy on here chucked his consistently faulty new mossy back to the dealer a few days back for ejection failures . Didn't see anyone swearing at their Auto all day on that clay shoot (guess they all maintained them) . Both sides are this are anecdotal I say no difference between the two, one gets blocked gas ports and seized pistons is some fool don't maintain them, the other more prone to wear, cheap manufacturing (in some models) and user error via Short shucking etc. Most reliable gun has always been a BLNE double with double triggers

brett1985
Benelli 121. Cheap and VERY reliable. The us police used them for years before moving to the newer benelli's with the rotating bolt design. If you fancy a newer variant, the ES100 or premium plus are basically the same guns. Churchill
I have 2 Browning Maxus Guns. Both have been 100% Faultless, I shot on Tue night with a guy using an Escort, at the end of the night his gun performed the same as the Maxus, 100% Faultless. One is expensive, one costs a lot less (trying not to use the word cheap) I took a look at the Escort whilst chatting to the guy before we started and it was clear that the gent looked after his gun and cleaned it, as do I. So it raises the question on the reliability of Semi's. In my humble opinion, it makes no difference whether its a expensive or cheaper semi, if you clean and maintain your semi and feed it the appropriate ammunition then it will work. alendil
So at the moment i am after semi auto (steel proff) and after looking at many many guns i did have a go yesterday (from 11-16:30) with escort 24'' barrel semi auto. i did have bag of carts full of ods and leftovers like 24g size 7 and up to 36g size 5 shot. In my opinion gun is superb for the price it did shoot spot on and cycle everythink no prob. and recoil is much less of a problem. only one thing, i will defo get one with 26'' or 28'' barrel as 24'' did fill to short for me. Churchill
Good choice mate, as i said earlier, if you look after your gun and maintain it and keep it clean, as you should with all guns and feed it the correct specification of cartridges as per the owners manual, then it should not let you down. webber
Not quite i your price bracket, but you could have a look at the Bernardelli range of semi automatics. Bewsher500
Most reliable gun has always been a BLNE double with double triggers already have a SxS BLNE! won;t put steel through it though and I want some longer barrels I could have a AYA Magnum with 3"'s and 30"'s that my Father has but again I am loathed to put steel through it comes down to price then really i guess Every second hand firearm I have ever bought has been stripped down to components and rebuilt. keep missing the good deals due to location! Munchie
Sorry about that pressed the wrong button! I have heard that S/A are like cars, if you get one with problems, it always has problems. Well sorry, but if you pay almost a grand for a product, the least you can expect is that it works properly. Strange that you're having problems with your Maxus. You're not using grease in the action are you? As this will go hard when fired and stop it cycling. I'm just about to head out to Beeston to use mine today.
