ok so this is a bit like guessing lottery numbers, what would you buy if you had say 1500 to spend on a gun to keep and be given to a child when they turn 18, when my girl was born i got a no2 aya and have always old her that its for her when she is 18, i dont care if she only ever shoots one clay with it ..but even her mother has been told if i pop my clogs its got to be kept for her....so whats worth looking at now fow 18 yrs in the future??

Agree with Fenboy on this - Winchester Grand European or Parker Hale 800 series - same gun - have been steadily increasing in value. The Winchester more so than the Parker Hale.

As they have been out of production for 25 years or so, they are becoming rarer.

I wouldn't say with any degree of certainty that many guns would increase in real value. Vostok are one of the very few that I am aware of.

I would not guess at a particular gun but if you bought a new gun and locked it away it will lose around 40% straight away new guns are at the moment going up by around 8% per year so if you said 4% for second hand so do the maths then you have to gauge if the gun you have is going to be in favour in 18 years.of course you can't go wrong with Beretta.just saying

ugb25 prices seem to be rising gradually, mines spends most of its time in the cabinet these days though.

funny thing is i have one, one of my regular shooting mates has one, the clay club owner has one, and another of the members has 2, sporter and trap version.

so down this way they're not rare.

dont see many of the proper sporter versions about though.

Interesting replies suppose I should have said, its not as much about making money or the increase of value I see it as more about passing on something that is nice and sound is, a good piece of kit if that makes cence yes if its more valuable happy days really a gun that is rare,, Beretta to commonplace to be interesting def will hold value but mass produced all the same.....

I would discount old English sxs as if lead gets banned they will just be ornaments look at the price of most now once a prized possession now reduced to the ranks of a rough shooting gun.i can't think of anything in that price range that is going to be much of an investment for the future.i have a rare Beretta in my cabinet that I am told if you were to buy today would be priced around 15000 pounds but what it is valued at and what you can actually get is a world apart.i suppose if you went the sxs route then a modern multi choked steel proof gun may be of some interest.the ugb is at very best a unreliable experiment that are best forgotten.i dont think guns are a good investment I have spent a fortune over the years and without exaggerating I could have bought a house with the money I have lost.i have two daughters and I am in no doubt that when I do shuffle off this earth my prized guns will be in the dealers for sale before the earth has settled.cash is king as they say.

I have a Beretta that I doubt you have ever seen one of and are never likely to see so although based on a mass produced model is quite unique so not all are commonplace.

I have removed part of this reply as it seems to have offended one or two people. Edited by bostonmick
