keg
I use our local hand car wash and they do a great job but as we have moved into winter, despite new wiper blades, I notice that the front and rear screens seem to smear more. I wondered if this is down to the "wax" they finish the car off with? Has anyone else noticed this?
garygreengrass
I think it the wash & wax they use.

snowmonster
Yeah she could smear my windscreen anytime, but I suppose that'd make me a sexist bigot and extend my stay on the naughty step .

bruno22rf
Get your hands on a bottle of UNGERS window cleaner-wet a cloth and put a dab of the cleaner on and give the screens a quick wipe over-this stuff is amazing. Pretty sure that screwfix sell it.
Lord Geordie
Old news paper, Wet the window, wipe with screwed up pages of newspaper! Then get a cloth and wipe the wiper blades with vinegar!
ayano3
So does everyone have a Taliban wash near them We have quite a few around here. Fiver for wash and wax and a tenner for the whole car valet. They do a good job but the window does smear. I use traffic film remover to clean them. lksopener
A few round us but they are nasty, inspect your motors a little but closer and look at all the swirls left by the dirty cloths used over and over again. Yuk, I'd rather do my own car to be honest. Oh and re the windows your right it will be the products they use I'd of thought.

You just need to watch things like acid wheel cleaners as they discolour plastic trim. My wheel nut covers are now more grey spotty than black ! Personal vehicles including the wifes car get done by me at home - jet wash, bucket and sponge with decent wash additive.
old rooster
Rainex is your friend!! Use it on the boat windscreen, great stuff!
Longchalk
Any glass or mirror cleaning, either water with a bit of meths in it, or if you've drunk it all, a good slug of vinegar. Both remove the grease... Then polish with an old newspaper to really make 'em sparkle.
