Scully
Called in there often prior to the handgun ban; it was a good shop even back then. Good to know they're still on the go.

Gordon R
Decent people to deal with, but cartridge prices have increased dramatically over last couple of years.

Alfred
I think its difficult to find a bad shop in the North West, they all seem pretty good to me. Malmo and Fawcetts are my usual two but I've been into Bamfords and they're a great bunch as well.
Archie-fox
Some good some I would never use again... Mcavoys, malmo both good ones in my opinion..

Gordon R
Alfred - McAvoys used to sell shells as cheap as anyone. Now, I find them very expensive. We are well served for Gun shops in the North West. Malmo - best stock, service, trade in prices etc. Norgas - best cartridge prices, for excellent shells. Bamfords - large stock of guns - decent prices. Edited December 20, 2013 by Gordon R
Westley
Do you mean in general or just from that particular place? Just bought 1000 Hull superfast for £157.00 (plastic wad), not expensive. Just bought 1000 Hull superfast for £157.00 (plastic wad), not expensive. Forgot to mention, they had no 2 1/2" game cartridges though !
mikky
tim and family have always given great service, had my first visit to malmo a few weeks ago ,couldnt do enough, the shotgun i wanted to buy was a silver pig 1...all the guns i wanted after a great deal of patience and trying didnt fit me,so they didnt want to sell me any....they had one in the lock up a berretta with an adjustable stock..after a few minutes stock adjustment and a dozen clays on the field at the back.. a deal was struck and i am the owner of a 682...would highly recommend them, they even rfd my rifle down south for me... hatsanmad
Yeah macavoys is a good shop i have used them since i got into shooting some 10 plus years ago. Only ever had one fault with something i bought but they couldnt do enough to rectify the issue. As for the worst i know of would have to be rainford fieldsports for me and or r sephton and sons. malantone
whilst we are beating the drum for our favourite gun/rfd shop I would like to mention `The Fishing Hut` at Grange Over Sands, South Cumbria. about 15miles from j36 M6 Raymond is a gentleman and there is always a deal to be done. nice stock of guns ammo and equipment. not as big as Malmos but 50 miles closer to home. basherdan
mcavoys and bamfords are spot on! do not use lancashire gun room, he ripped me off with my first shot gun one of the ejectors was faulty, when i took it back to him he was not the slightest bit interested and being green with shot guns i left the shop and dealt with the problem myself. njc110381
Norgas - best cartridge prices, for excellent shells. Isn't Norgas Webber's company? I may be wrong... Just sounds familiar. I've never visited McAvoy's but I have dealt with them via mail order many times and have always been very happy with their service and prices. Gordon R
Norgas is Webber's. McAvoys cartridge prices on their website seem steep, but they are selling other shells cheaper, which don't feature.

Alfred
How about Bond & Bowaters at Preston Peter & Paul are allways helpfull My wife popped in there the other day, she actually said it was a pleasure shopping in there, she'd been out Xmas shopping and went looking for my present and she said they really went out of their way to help her out and did her a good deal. Its not easy to please my missus so they must have done a good job Prices don't vary that much really across all of the shops, its a few quid here and there unless there is a special deal on somewhere, so good service and being helpful goes a long way to ensuring your customers come back. Gonk
Usually use McAvoys and find them very helpful have bought a couple of guns off them too. Recently found Simplyammo that is actually closer to me and really good, Derek there is very knowledgeable and helpful
