Cranberrysauce123
Hi very new to this so excuse me if I do something wrong. I'm looking at which brand of cartridges to get for rabbit , pigeon , clay and the odd pheasant I've got a 12bore aya yeoman over and under . What load should I use ? I now I need to keep with the same brand of cartridges so clay practice actually pays off . I'm using eley hush powers at the moment but they seem to be firing the shot very slowly in comparison to others, thank you in advance
Wiggum
Hi you will get a 100 different answers to this question as everyone has their own opinion. Generally though you will find people use 24g/28g 7.5 / 8 sized shot for clays and 30g/32g 6 / 5 sized shot for pigeon/rabbits/pheasants. Brand wise try a few out and pick one your happy with personally I use super fast 27g 7.5 for clays as they're cheap and special game 32g 6.5 for pigeons just my opinion and what I am happy with although some are happy to decoy pigeon with 7.5 shot cartridges. carpentermark
I use gamebore clear pigeon 32g 6s fibre for pigeons and rabbits very hard hitting cartridge, i pay £55 for 250.
fenboy
You need to ditch the hush powers , they really are for use through moderated guns and are subsonic so very slow I dont worry about sticking to one particular brand as there are few if any bad one these days so they will all do the job You will not get one cartridge to cover every scenario , I will happily use 7.5 28 gram loads for pigeon but would favour 30 grams of 6 for rabbit and pheasant General opinion is 30 /32 gram of 6 for your game / pigeon and 28 gram 7.5s / 8s for clays
Scully
I have always found Gamebore Clear Pigeon 32grm 6's a very good all round cartridge. Good on clays, good on pigeon and very hard hitting on those bolting bunnies no matter what angle they are running at.
Field Shooter
All down to personal preference really, as above:- 5, 6 & 6 1/2 For Game / Pigeon / Rabbits 28 to 36g 7, 7 1/2, 8 & 9 For Clays 21 to 32g Not a lot of difference between brands other than some will be more punchy in some guns than others although some of this will be due to gun fit / weight and how the gun actually likes a particular cartridge. At the moment I use Gamebore/Kent Velocity & Hull First's in 28g fibre 7 1/2 for Clay's & PSG Gamebore Buffalo 36g 6 for Rabbits / Vermin And various brands AAA, BB & SG For Fox Hope I havant confused you. strangford wildfowler
I find that 32g number 6s I use Dan arms through half choke which work for everything apart from foxes and geese
Guest cookoff013
I used to use classic loads of 36g of 4 and 2. For ground game there is something satisfying belting vermin with these loads. If after hare then 4 or 2 minimum. I have shot with a guy who used 6s and at extreme range. He wasn't a bad shot But tried to take game at silly distances. I ended up finishing half of them off. I still remember taking bolting rabbits in the snow. Salop Matt
Go for Gamebore 30gram 6's fibre wad for game and for clays 7.5 or 8's in eley first or eley Olympics both 28gram. ATB Matt
oowee
IMO. Game bore velocity 29g no 6 fibre £195 a 1000 are best the best value for money effective shells. At 70 mm they work well in semi's and are cheap enough for clays. Shame they only come in pink as they easily get lost in the grass.

bicykillgaz
I don't shoot clays very often but would just use what ever the ground have availible, pigeons/crows 28-32g no5's if I was out specifically for rabbit I'd go for no4's as they can be tough little beggers!
