Flightline pigeons

As the weather made a turn for the better this afternoon, I whipped the 12g out of the cabinet, pocket full of carts and headed of to the farm. TBH, it was more of an excuse for a walk than expecting any birds to be about, although I did hope the wind would put some about

I arrived at 1.30, to the predicted heavy downpour. So had a coffee and let it pass. By 2pm, it was over, but the wind had really got going as I headed into the wood. There seemed to be a few birds heading over two trees in specific, so I put myself in between the two.

I had a very enjoyable hour and a half before they just disappeared. They were really cracking on past on the wind, but I managed to bag a few of them :good: This flightline lark is so rewarding when you connect and being mobile knocks the hell out of sitting in the middle of a windswept field of rape :yes:

Brilliant... and your right I agree its quality shooting ... and does beat being sat in a hide waiting...

One of my favourite shoots is the bottom of a valley with a large beechwood behind me... in late summer harvest the birds come over the horizon, power down the valley on the wind skimming the tops of the wheat or barley before quickly rising up over the 80ft canopy...

The shooting can be spectacular.
