apbuild
http://petitions.pm.gov.uk/traveltax/ Sign the petition and let them know you are sick of being taxed to the hilt. Rob.
il cacciatore
That is a ridiculous amount of signatures that! More than half a million! I signed it a while ago.
SNAKEBITE
With that amount of signatures it proves one thing............. Internet petitions are pointless and don't change a thing.
il cacciatore
There are so many petitions on that site, one including "give us the right to break stupid laws at will"
Highlander
Sorry but this is just a sop to the masses from Mr Bliars spin doctor friends. There are now so many petitions (as one might expect) that no one least of all our useless b***** government is gonna take the slightest bit of notice of any of them. A total waste of time adding to them BUT if you do don't complain when they come to get you early one morning and make you disappear 'cause they know who you are

pin
R4 had some commentary on this, the transport minister has said they will listen to alternatives and made mention of the petition, however he was quick to say that something has to be done, if not this. Either way whatever they do it will be cost-based because they want a cut In Italy (and other places) they have registration plates which indicate one day of the week on which the car can't be used, if caught driving on that day you get fined, might be an alternative? Axe
For it to make the national news, must be causing a stir. I'd imagine the site getting even more busy now. It just goes to show that these online petitions can work. I wouldnt be surprised if they shut the site down though.
al4x
It is all a load of absolute ******** in my opinion. They want to penalise the drivers of gas guzzlers, they want to cut the miles people drive and reward people who have efficient cars. All this is done already through the duty on fuel and road tax all this is is another stealth tax and lets them monitor our movements. The quicker this government is out of power the better. Dave-G
Rather like the amount of people caught speeding - that many voters think the past, current and proposed levels are unacceptable. However - nulabour probably realise they won't get voted in next election so whats to be lost?

pin
I happen to find it relaxing and informative. I don't bother with the archers, thought for the day or anything else to do with religion, but it does calm me down on my drive to and from work on some of the worst roads there are (A12/A13/A406/M11/M25) Anyway I am getting older, I must be I am driving a diesil
