A Glorious Day in the Cotswolds

A glorious day in the Cotswolds was had with great weather and great company adding to great sport. After Jdogs request for Billy No mates last week and me subsequently being unable to join I was determined not to let Jdog down again. Obviously Jdog knows me quite well as he pushed back the time we meet to avoid the early showers. When we arrived at the field we where going to cover Jdog was cautiously watching and a bit worried there would be not activity however as we where watching a helicopter passed over the area we where going to head for and a flock numbering several hundred lifted as the helicopter passed over there heads. The pilot doing us a massive favour in moving the birds on, as well as putting beaming smiles on both of our faces. By the time we had set up the flight line had re established itself some 150 yards to our right over the front edge of a large wood. Well for the next 3 hours we had a steady stream of birds being pulled off the flight line by our pattern. I think it would be fair to say we both shot some good birds and as usual missed some simple birds, and I wish I could write here and tell you about the 70yard bird that I took going away to my left however Jdog is still adamant that it was he who accounted for that bird. I would just like to thank Jdog both for his company which is in itself a treat but also for allowing me to join him on sure a glorious day. post-21910-0-31122000-1394210453_thumb.jpgpost-21910-0-25280200-1394210462_thumb.jpgpost-21910-0-58428400-1394210469_thumb.jpg

How kind!

I really enjoyed myself today in the company of Gary who called off last week when it was raining. A fair weather shooter indeed.

An amusing note. Two birds came into the pattern from the front, closer to me and I shot the first one. The second flared off to my left and I shot it as a long shot quite a way out. Gary, whose hide was 50m to my right, claimed the second bird. Even George Digweed would have been lucky to shoot that one at 80 to 90m, and even though I am generous of spirit I am not sycophantic and I told him clearly that it was not his bird.
