Salop Matt
I have one and off road its great with a tiny turning circle. Only down side IMO is a bit tail happy in the wet and the lack of space. But having said that I lamp from mine fine with a 12ltr dive bottle in the back, the gun bag, 2 large meat tray`s/ box`s and the rest of my kit. It does everything I ask of it and touch wood its never got stuck but has towed plenty of other vehicles including the brother in laws LR90 (which stopped all pee taking of my jap wagon). The heater is brilliant and a god send on a cold winters outing when returning to the car. Not designed and built for long distances but I know of one other owner who does some good journeys in his. Davyo
I fancied the jimny but found it a tad two small.Got hold of a 02 grand vitara, had it for over a year and after getting the sills sorted it has gone through it last mot with no advisories.I use it everday on and off road and it has never let me down.If is a second car so I only use it for the farm and the allotment. It gets some abuse.Ripped out all the carpets, roof lining, banged in 2 removable sunroofs(shooting hatches) and painted it nato green. With the seats down there is ample room and believe me when I go lamping I take everything. Check the oil & water once a month and an annual service it will never let you down . Unbelievable off road. chrispti
I loved mine, took the back seats out and ply lined the floor. Enough room for the dog and all the decoying gear. I also had a roof rack with a tray so all my decoying gear could go on the roof. Also handy for chucking dead rabbits in when lamping, gives them chance to cool off and the fleas to move out.... humperdingle
Great little motors and very capable off road/in snow. Just don't expect a Range Rover soft ride on open road. 32ish mpg combined is what I get from mine but it hardly ever goes offroad now. Check out bigjimny.com forums or search this forum... loads of threads here on the subject.

Love your motor! And Dayvo's too. Can imagine a dwarf Mt T using that vehicle
WinchesterDave
Sorry to jump in on the thread, but I was going to post a similar question about the jimney.. I would love one for my first car when I have enough. When you say they are good off road is that standard or modified? What would you say the very basic of jimny with road tires on can do? Again sorry for jumping in on the threae.
Davyo
If its for just knocking around the farm just put some decent tyres on.

Again sorry for jumping in on the threae. A couple or three winters ago (really bad winter), we had over a foot of snow. My Jimny with Infinity tyres (about £50 each) and un-modified, was one of the few cars on the road. Bit weird driving about at peak times with hardly any traffic. Anyway, never got stuck once. Stick it in low ratio and it'll put many other 4x4s to shame.

Again sorry for jumping in on the threae. My Jim is completely standard, and on Bridgestones (standard road tyres) at the back and something cheapy and fairly low on tread at the front. I've never got it stuck, though I don't go hardcore off roading - just muddy tracks, fields etc. I reckon it would do pretty well with more hardcore offroading too, but haven't had the opportunity. One thing I will agree with is that the Bridgestone tyres are rubbish on damp roads - I've managed to slide with all 4 wheels locked, not going very fast, down a not very steep road when it was a bit soggy! Whitebridges
Mine is a lovely little motor. Goes anywhere. Back seat is out permanently and I can put all sorts of **** in the back without a thought. Beats my last wagon on economy and drive comfort.
