Markt3815
Hi I've always shot with an under uo or a semi auto , I've just bought an aya no2 for a restoration project and just wondered as many people tell me shooting a side by side is a different ball game to shooting an uo , if so what's the difference .. Konnie
most of it is in your head created by visual concept when giving lead to crossers I find but that said o/u supposed to shoot a little high sxs flatter so its said
Underdog
I shoot three sxs, one auto, a flintlock and a single caplock, just sold a pump, double triggers and single. Kinder get 50% with the lot. I just look at the bird when I'm shooting.
welshwarrior
K and UD are both correct. It's a mental thing it's new was the brain is questioning it used to see a single sight plane of a rib, your showing it 3 both barrels and a rib, so a fair few people start looking at the gun. Now if your other guns fit well you'll be used to ignoring the barrels looking hard at the target, however if they have not you'll be used to doing lots of mental maths to work out leads etc so will be prone more to looking at barrels, this can get worse with a Sbs. In short refurb the gun to fit look at the target hard focus in on it and just shoot the bloody thing
kent
At certain presentations the side by side blocks some vision of the target and the sight picture. An o/u tends on the heavier side meaning less wearing on the shooter if shot from a static position with slightly heavier loads ( a lightweight o/u is less in weight than a sxs magnum so this is a generalisation)
Gunman
Its said with an O/U you tend to go above or below . with a SxS you go in front or behind . Basically its like every thing else you have to learn how to use it .

kent
In general rich people (Bankers) shoot side by sides. Because they can normally holland and hollands etc. wow, have you ever shot with normal folk without such prejudice? I have three side by sides, one Auto and two singles non cost me more than a grand individually. The most expensive shot gun I ever owned was an Italian made o/u. A mans wealth cannot be seen by what he thinks he owns, the wealthiest people often show it and care about doing so the very least
Marki
My rough gun is a Bignotti sxs. Cost all of £50.

Stripped it all the paint of unknown SBS ejector brimingham proofed. Nice bit of wood and the makers name slowly appeared on the barrel. £150 well spent. jfletch88
I just picked up a Laurona sxs for £100 and took it for a round of clays this weekend. I thought it would be very different, but it was no trouble at all! Great fun to shoot
