moorvale55
Daystate only assemble air rifles, they do not manufacture parts and only fettle to fit. They have done a wonderful marketing job in telling people how good they are and inflating prices. They are very good air rifles but can be matched or bettered by other makes. I am NOT knocking Daystate lovers as the products are good. Air Arms and HW make parts for their rifles but Daystate do not despite the adverts etc on you tube about how we have done this and that. They were the ideas of Daystate but someone else has to do the work. All in all a great air rifle but just think of your wallet before you buy. The repair/service takes some beating. Believe me I know, I have been there. The testing that they undertake prior to release of a rifle is very good but it has to be because they do not make the parts. kent
Hi guys, So I've been reading up on different places about PCP's and I have to ask are Daystate worth the asking price? This is not meant to offend anyone who owns one in any way. I am just interested to know if they are really all they are cracked up to be compared to others PCP's? I'd also like to point out I've never shot one just wondering is it something I should consider saving up for one day? Thanks Its a very valid point. I should say yes to those who wish to own one for whatever reason and no in terms of performance. The airgun reached its peak as a production PCP with the GC2 and the air arms TX / TXsr or prosport in a production spring gun IMO. The limiting factor is really the power and the ammo. Shot under perfect conditions with high quality ammo they shoot as well as they ever will

Shewolf
I have a Wolverine (B) and I love it. It is my baby. I was rather annoyed however because when I first got it the shots were going all over the place. Enough pellets had gone through (more than enough) and it wasn't grouping at all. It ended up going back to Daystate for two weeks, It did come back with a new barrel and now shoots like a dream, but it does annoy me that it had to go back in the first place. For what they cost you expect it to be right to start with! I have heard similar stories since, so it does seem that sadly it wasn't a one off :-(

Sure a Wolverine gives you unique features but if that was a huntsman etc? Then imo that makes it of lesser quality than the competition yet costs the earth and in my experience daystates are no more accurate. I don't expect to pay a third more for something chucked together out of the parts bin made by other random companies. Weird thing to say, it wasn't a Huntsman You said it, the Wolverine has unique features. With new developments you will inevitably get issues cropping up. Remember the BSA R10, look at F1, I have a Hilux that has a recall for an air bag problem, the list is endless, unless you want to stay in the dark ages with no moving forward You don't have to pay a third more, its your choice what you buy. A lot of rifles have barrels made by Walther and the stocks made by Minelli. It makes sense to get components from specialists in that field and not try to be a Jack of all trades. Oh yes the Wolverine and the electric rifles are definitely bringing something something new and unique to the table, I won't knock daystate for that. But it seems generally speaking because they don't make their own componants they are all theoretical rather than craftsman actually making something. Barrels and stocks aren't really the issue, it's all the other bits that are important when it comes to craftsmanship. And all you hear on here is yet another person with daystate problems. They have cleverly branded themselves but i really don't think they are worth what they ask. An Air Arms s410 for instance is a far better rifle than the huntsman yet costs a lot less. Same goes for the HW100 compared to the Mk4.

Same goes for the HW100 compared to the Mk4. I agree the AA 2410 is a nice rifle. Had 4 of them. But one of those new had a fault and had to be returned. Far better than the Huntsman? in what way? The Huntsman has a shrouded barrel, is screw cut for a moderator, the harper slingshot which gives a higher and more consistent shot count, decent magazine, that can be switched from left loading to right loading. Try using a scope with a parallax sidewheel on the S410. All this for £150 more. Again, I have an Hw100. Great rifle, but better than the Mk4? Not really comparable again The MK4 has a Minelli stock which puts the HW's efforts to shame, weight wise its lighter, has a higher shot count, again shrouded barrel, electronically regulated, electronic trigger (which is beyond compare), shot count readout, magazine count......the list goes on, again, the magazine can be switched form left to right. I've not taken into account how the rifles are in the hand, Personally, and ultimately it is one of personal choice, if you want a top marque PCP, I do feel they are worth the extra over the examples you have given. srspower
Better than a huntsman in the sense it is considerably more reliable and of is a LOT cheaper. You keep referring to aesthetics and admittedly novel design features. Gun making isn't like Apple making a new laptop it is a craft. Sure if you buy a MCT daystate or something like the wolverine .303 it is worth the cost because you don't have an alternative to compare it to. But for the rest? At best you could say they are equal to the competition as in being great rifles but with poorer reliability at a higher cost. So worth the money? Only if you put aesthetics over reliability and functionality. Edited May 11, 2014 by srspower

srspower
I don't deny my evidence is anecdotal. Based upon personal experience and the amount of people posting on here with daystate problems in comparison to the competition, admittedly that I have come across since being a member. turbo33
Its a funny thing this Daystate envy.
