.007
one fox at 150m was not posted as it was too graphic, the top of it`s head exploded in to fine mist a wee bit like JFK`s. video work go`s forward?, then begs the ques should it be allowed?, then begs the ques are we a closed state!, then begs the ques they may be a RIOT? al4x
We all strive for clean kills, but if 1 in 10 foxes take a couple of seconds to expire its no good being emotional about it, it not deliberate after all. Ever winged a woodie?! If it was 1 in 10 no one would comment, it was most of them. That video doesn't show efficient fox shooting. It actually shows some of the poorest I've seen on film. It shouldn't be normal to have them dropping like that and it's purely wrong shot placement coupled with a light ballistic tip.
Catweazle
People would complain at a video showing rabbits shot like that, why is a fox any different ? My first thought was that someone needs a decent bipod or sticks.
spanj
You're right antoni you shot well, we don't all shoot bench rest at Bisley! It's called a follow up shot, you followed up, job done! I dont have a problem with a follow up shot, we're not all perfect but the "pull the trigger and hope" comment coupled with the poor choice of backstops should be of real concern. I'm absolutely certain it would be to the OPs FLO.

Catweazle
Do you not agree that using a hedge as a backstop is extremely dangerous? Who knows who or what else could end up "on a stairway to heaven" To be fair, "hedges" do vary a lot. My "hedges" are 4ft high and 3ft thick stone and earth, but you couldn't tell that from a night vision film. His might be the same.
Berettacocker
I've watched vid again, surprised fox got up after being hit so hard and needing follow up, but if you watch again you'll see second shot is another fox! Not many foxes get hit hard, get up,have a pee, then stop to a whistle/grunt for follow up! We all know missing long shots will wise a fox up quicker than anything , and it's wiser/ more humane to call them in close.but if we didn't take some long shots( lamp, squeak shy) the country would be overran with them. Elby
I really can't believe the comments on here. I've been shooting foxes for 35 years and can see nothing wrong here. The foxes were all dead, I wouldn't comment on a hedgerow as a back stop because to me it looked like a wood and I don't know the land or where 007 was shooting from (back of a vehicle, high seat ect) Well done mate, a good nights lamping and some damage done to the Charlie population
tignme
Ballistic tipped bullets are not proper varmint bullets. I shoot 22.250 homeloaded soft points (varmint bullets) on fox and Roe. I have not ever had to take a follow up shot. I shoot off quad sticks which are very steady and practice, practice, practice.

The Essex Hunter
For my money, If you know your ground and take the responsibility for the shot then that is fine... I get my share...and have had a couple take a good few steps usually because the shot was low.... Nothing wrong with a follow up shot on any quarry, standard practice to re-load on a deer and cover it with the scope... Plenty of pheasants get chipped during the season with the out of practice guns who turn up blurry eyed after being on the lash... From my experience on here...the harder you try to put a decant post with good pictures/video clips then the more the critics will rise up to type... I liked it and was right there pulling the trigger...It is hard enough to get out and shoot. let alone record it as well.. TEH
