high velocity v subs .22 rimfire

Recommended Posts

Hi all.

Was wanting some advice on cci velocitor rounds for .22 rimfire.

I currently use winchester subs and have never used hv rounds and was wanting something a bit quicker and with a bit more thud.

is sound going to be an issue?, I have a sak mod on my cz 452.

Thanks for reading

Velocitors are loud...real loud.Your Sound mod wont make a bit of difference.

I do use them though along with Stingers, but daytime only for those wabbits a wee bit further away and when noise isnt an issue.I tried Stingers while lamping once at 11.00pm and it sounded like i'd fired my K98 Mauser.

There are other options if you want to try HV. Minimags are nice and punchy too,but a little cheaper than Stingers and Velocitors.Suggest you try few brands to see what your rifle prefers.

Yea I knew they would be a bit louder but ill have to see. I saw the mini mags bit there 36g and I thought they wus be a bit light??.

I do a few hrs before light to scope area normally then get the lamp out once dark enough.

Probably use the hv for day then and the subs for night if they really are that loud

I took my 22 out last evening and took some Federal gameshok's HVHP. They are very good I know but last night I aimed at a pebble in some dirt at a guessed 100yds off hand and hit it! Tried again on a second and just snook down the side of it. Bet they were only 1&1/2" across! Only got a 4x scope on it too!

The crack rippled through the whole village :) Gotta keep them all educated :)

Are they, I'm almost sure the mini mag pack I picked up was 36g. Any how's I think I'll try 50 mini and 50 velocitor and see how they cycle.

I'm out tomorrow night so ill let you know how I get on. Should be a good night. Had 15 bunnies last outing

Underdog are they defo a daytime round then due to noise

Matey...I use them whenever I want! When I use to sell rabbit and shot dozens a night if it was windy we used HV just to help with windage. The noise thing is a bit of a red herring in my opinion.

What may seem quiet to us is often not to wildlife!

Some just find it a more pleasant experience being quiet and some dont mind making a noise...thats all there is to it :-).

I think you have a faulty sound mod!

My .22lrs are dedicated sub sonic tools these days, if I want a bit more I use the HMR or WMR.

But back in the day I found the Velocitors and Rem Yellow Jacket HP the best High velocity performers for my guns and uses!

As others have said, you need to try a few in your gun! :good:

Just picked up 50 cci velocitors for later so we will see.

Been thinking about a 17 hmr for a bit extra. Nice to have more choice.

Also picked up 50 rws subs to compare with the winchester subs.

Anybody tried both? And what are your thoughts?

Yea a lot of people have said there very accurate.

Had a trip to another gun shop in my local area that I've never been into before. I knew it was a mistake, having walked out the the shop with a new toy.

17 hmr cz 452. Synthetic stock, stainless barrel and sak mod. With a 50 mm scope. £375. Couldn't resist

So chaps, found that the rws subs are a lot more accurate than my old Winchester subs. Looks like I'll be changing and keeping the winnies for emergency.

as for the cci velocitors, there bloody evil, as everyone has said they are quite loud, but OMG there deadly.. very quick and accurate as you'd expect but as I'd never fired hv round it was a bit of a shock just how quick and accurate they are.

Hi Brno.

Yea after having tried the rws subs I have to agree. Really quiet and very accurate compared to my other winchester subs.

Haven't tries the rws hv yet but will grab a box and see.

Also found having zero'd at 50 yards with the cci velocitors. And then switching to subs at the same distance I had a drop of about an inch.
