shootgun
Tuesday i'm sending over my FAC application ... I know what rilfle i want and which scope and i have set the funds aside... Now the tricky one... Uttings have a promo code for this weekend, so i can buy the scope i want for £150 less... should i go ahead and order the scope, and hopefully i will be granted a FAC, or should i wait till the FAC arives(or not)? What you would do?

fenboy
Buy the scope , if its a limited offer you likely to be able to sell it on at the same price anyway.

shootgun
If your not nuts, dont have a criminal record for violence and have land to shoot on buy the scope. I'm not nuts, don't have a criminal record (got SGC) and no land to shoot a centerfire, but i've been stalking in the past, have 18 years centerfire experience(ex-army boy) and have 3 days stalking already booked... The scope in question is a £1000 Zeiss....
deershooter
Most forces don't like you to have a Centre fire rifle before having a .22 no matter what military experience you have .You might be lucky but it would not happen especially with no shooting land in Lincolnshire ,My FEO would say you have no good reason, use an estate rifle. Deershooter The Home Office says that paid stalking is a good enough reason, no matter what any FEO will say.

Glenshooter
I'm not really keen to spend a small fortune for a second hand scope.... It's a lot smaller of a fortune than a new scope which loses 25 - 30% of it's value once you're taken it from the shop. But if you can afford it, and are familiar enough to know that it is EXACTLY what you need, and have looked through one in field conditions, go ahead and buy. Scope choice is very personal, even at the top end.
shootgun
buy it buy it buy it , before the missus finds out ! I have my shooting stuff delivered to the office, and i'm back home before she does, so i'm safe here It's a lot smaller of a fortune than a new scope which loses 25 - 30% of it's value once you're taken it from the shop. But if you can afford it, and are familiar enough to know that it is EXACTLY what you need, and have looked through one in field conditions, go ahead and buy. Scope choice is very personal, even at the top end. I have a 15% off for this one, so the difference between a new one an a used one is only 10% price wise... so i would happily spend a extra 100 quid for a new one, over a 2nd hand one. Pretty much this is exactly what i need, i just hope i will be granted a FAC and don't have to put it back on sale

rtaylor
Buy it, it's not going to hurt it sitting at home and even if you don't get your firearms keep the receipt and you can just take it back. You should be fine if you've got 3 stalks booked although they do tend to like having permission.
