Man o kent
I know it's not what you would call a trophy day, but we all have to start somewhere! Went for a 20 minute wander on a local permission, and has been the case locally not a pigeon in the sky. They are about, just not where I want them. A lone woodie appears out of the blue, and about 25 yds away flying right to left, it drops to single shot. What made it sweeter was the fact it fell to my little old sxs 16 bore, with full choke. And that was the only one that came my way. Not a big bag of birds, but one that I won't forget. Onward and upward!

lakeside1000
most farmers dont want you walking in the crops, but mine insists I clear up, dosnt want them getting into his machinery , so ive developed a way to find them quite easily, first find the nearest tram line and get as near as possible, then stand still and look around the area where the bird went in, in tallish crop you will see a small hole where all the crop is over in one direction, step over and into the crop and look down into the hole, 99 times out of the 100 your bird will be there, I dont wander around aimlessly as this will do too much damage, but where farmers dont want you in the crop, dont go, its not worth the agro and possibility of losing your perm, even better dont shoot over standing crop where possible, I concentrate on the new beet at the moment, nice and easy to walk up and down the gaps between plants, just writing this has got the juices going, think I will pop out this after for a few hours, well done on your first, they say you always remember your first more than any other, I wonder if she remembers me the same way, LOL
