FAC air slot question

Hi all.

I have a spare .22lr slot after selling mine a while back. Had the usual richochets etc, and for some land I have perm that's near houses etc so now fancy FAC air for rabbit control.

When applying for FAC air do you have to specify calibre and when returned is the slot calibre specific? Just curious at the mo.

Kind regards

Jonathan

When I applied for one I listed what caliber I wanted as air rifles have come on a long way and there are some calibers out there that take down dear, so for land clearance issues I would think you would.

Not quite sure what you mean . When you say dear , do you mean expensive ,or capable of killing deer .

If you mean deer then there is no Airgun currently made that meets the required legislation, Min for munties and CWD / Roe if your in Scotland is a 50 grain bullet ( must be expanding) at 1000 ft /lb minimum !

Calibre should be listed though some areas undoubtedly pass over the fact, just as they do other required legislation. My own FAC says .22 air rifle. Interestingly it also says I can shoot "Deer/fox and AOLQ" with all my guns (obviously to shoot deer with rimfire , airgun or sub calibre will still be an offence under the deer act) and I am not about to shoot foxes with an airgun either!

Check this out ......

Not shore if it's legal here but it is a air rifle that takes down deer very effectively as it seems, so if you don't have to put a calibre down and you can get one of these no questions asked as it's a air rifle it's kind of worrying to the suitability of land experience with said gun etc

When I added FAC air rifle to the license I had to state calibre - was split between .22 or .25 but given there are more .22 than .25 I went for .22 - I did not think .177 was worth while in FAC as anything over 16 ft/lb made the .177 unstable.

No its not legal here on our "shores" Insufficient energy and a bullet that likely will not conform. At the end of the day you can kill anything with almost anything, its interesting you never see any "shot gone wrong" on promotional footage posted.

Remember human fatalities have occurred with air pistols at sub 6 ft lb
