hi all

after another field had been cut it was time for a walk with the hmr to bag a couple of buns ...

i sat in the hedge mid way down the field and had some nice long shots to the opposite side .. it was also nice to watch a roe doe and two young going about the business..

next trip was a night after a fox .. i went to a farm that i had took one the week before thinking there may be another kicking around..
i got there early and made the evening out of it just sitting and chilling watching the sun set that sent the country pink...
as it started to darken off i got my lamps ready and had a quick flash .. it was still lightish but i managed to pick a set of eyes up in the bushes i got the rifle up gave a quick squeak and a fox burst out at full pace towards me i shouted at it to stop but that didn't work as he done a 90 degree turn and disappeared back to cover... that doesn't often happen..
i carried on calling and to me it looked like the fox was making his way around the back of me i once again got the sticks ready and waited for a flash of eyes..
i few moments later i had him back in the lamp he was hesitant to come out if the hedge as he new something was not right but i could id him fine and took the shot.. i nice thud rang back and he was down..
i had a quick flash round and spotted fox number two lower down the field i went after him but he was of like a greyhound..
this is where it got a bit hazy as i could not pinpoint where i had shot the other one.. i had a rough feeling where it was but after 30 min of looking in the rain i gave up foxless.....
it annoyed me all evening as i new it was down .... a morning search was booked so at 7am i went back and it was right where i was looking just under a flap of grasses... he was hit perfectly with massive 70g wound but at night things sometimes become hard to see
thanks andy

its horrible when you can't find them at night, i usually have the dog but was out without her last week and of course shot 2 one in a low spot in a few acres of cover, It was a fast shot and only 99% sure it was a fox not tiddles one that you want to be sure on the most annoying bit was it died with an eye open but I could only see it from up the seat. Couldn't find it at all but the next morning laid out exactly where I thought i was looking

that's not my walking stick with the fox its my pogo stick it adds at least 18 inches to my high making fox spotting a doddle lol
