Craigyboy21
Could be something in this, there seems to be a few like-minded bods on here. We would probably need a couple of sites so everyone could get out enough to make it worthwhile. Anyone any ideas of land that may be suitable? pboro shot
Pigeon syndicates only work if you have good mix of week day and weekend shooters if not every one turns up weekends I have 2 farms with sydicate pigeon shooter 6 guns cover 3000 acres seems to work ok but there all regular everyones happy other land is seasonal so wouldnt support a sydicate dont commit if your not all 100 % commited rain or shine Good luck

marsh man
Why don't some of you Norfolk boys think about joining a wildfowling club nearest to you , both Yarmouth and Norwich clubs both have a fair bit of pigeon shooting land and who knows you might get interested in wildfowling at the same time , joining fees are around £175 a year which gives you membership to B A S C and full insurance which is very good value for your money. JDog
I heard a rumour that Motty was offering pigeon shooting at reasonable rates on the days when he is busy playing football. This may or may not be the case.

This may or may not be the case. I think you might well be right Mr JDog , as Motty would now be in wildfowling mode and pigeon shooting would come second in line of priority and with producing videos and now you say playing football I don't know how he fit it all in , you talk about work ,rest and play with that sort of shechule he would have very little rest.......How nice it would be to be 21 again
Craigyboy21
As a relative newby to pigeon shooting and not getting anywhere with perms yet i joined a wildfowling club near Norwich and i must say its the best thing ive done. The guys in the club have been very supportive & informative & now im out most weekends since this season started. As previously mentioned the wildfowling club does have land that it shoots pigeon & rabbits on but to tell the truth im having so much fun going after ducks & geese (still to pop my goose cherry) i haven't missed shooting pigeon but am still hoping to get out a couple of times probably in the new year. That is an excellent attitude and I hope that you find yourself some shooting. Going out with experienced chaps will be the way forward. This may or may not be the case. I have often wondered about taking paying guns pigeon shooting. My trouble would be that I would feel guilty about taking money from people when they had a less than average day.

I have sleepless nights before I take anyone out for free wondering if I can give them a good time or not. Even when they have up to 100 shots I still wonder if they have enjoyed themselves. Go stalking and the deer are not around or the guide is not wanting you to whack something he is keeping.... He will still hold his hand out for the fee............. The Essex Hunter
Not every one I am sure they don't, so how does it work? Do you get a free second stalk...? TEH
Blunderbust
TEH, I am sorry mate, I cant speak for others as I have not paid for many stalks. I think it all depends on who it is that is talking you out and what the agreement is. A lot of guys need to make a living out of what they are doing and cant really afford to give concessions and need to stick rigorously to the deal and rightly so. However some can sometimes out price themselves and end up not getting any clients so it is a very sticky situation. I would say that the best type of paid stalk if you can get it is if you agree on a set price for the stalk/guilds time and then a shot fee which is set for each animal. For example if you were going out with a guide at £50 per morning or evening, around the 4 hour mark and say you wanted to stalk a Muntjac at £30, which if successful would total £80. In the case that you were unsuccessful, you only pay the £50. This is the way that I do it but then I am not interested in making money out of it and in most cases I will offer a second stalk (no guide fee) and would only charge for the shot beast if the client was successful on the second stalk. That's fine as we all have to pay the bills some how, most of mine is foc, however I put a lot of time in shooting quite a number of foxes so it is a good trade off... In truth the guides cant just rely on stalking as the whole source of income as the seasons weather and number of deer wont allow it... Just like trying to make a living from shooting pigeons to pay the bills, it would leave you raiding the piggy bank quite often. I am only guessing but it must be closer to a keepers life but I would say they must top up the money from some other income.. Quite interesting to say the least.. Penelope
I have always considered that any fees for pigeon shooting are more for the access and guide's time, than the actual shooting, although reasonable effort should be made to provide some sport. I have often wondered about taking paying guns pigeon shooting. My trouble would be that I would feel guilty about taking money from people when they had a less than average day.
