Hi

like i said in a previous post, i've ordered some predator hunting pellets and would let you know how i got on.

I ordered them on wednesday via mail order with "TARGET SPORTS",gave my credit card details and the guy said i would get them before the weekend.

Today, fri,i finished work(night shift)and rested in bed waiting for my delivery.

Target sports rang approx 10am saying:

"about your order for pellets,we havent got them in stock, would you like to wait a few weeks or cancel your order,if you cancel the money will be returned to your bank a/c today"

etc. etc.

I asked the guy("RICKY")"why wasn't i told this when i ordered?"can't remember the reply.

I asked"so you've taken the money out and you have'nt got them"

he replied"yes"

I said"if you refund me today it takes a couple of days to process"

"i know" was the reply

I asked his name and said"I would like to cancel, get my money back, and i won't order off you again"

he said "fine"

I am dubeous about giving bank details over the phone and this is why.

I know a bit about "law" as my family are "lawyers" so hope they refund o.k.

PLEASE BE AWARE GUY'S..... Im not a **** stirrer but just a dead straight guy.

You're not going to order again from a company that cared enough about a customer order, worth just a few quid, to let you know they weren't going to deliver as expected? Hmm, you haven't done much mail ordering have you?

I think he's just venting some anger. I'm sure he had a weekend of shooting planned and will now miss out and have to wait until next week now.

:P

He does have a point, the main point being the card shouldn't have been charged if the goods weren't in stock, If I asked verbally and was told they had them then I would kick up the same fuss. It'll be 3 days to return the money. It simply isn't professional of a mail order company to do this, they should have advised him at the time of placing the order that the goods weren't in and given him an expected delivery date then left it to him to decide whether to go ahead with the order.

To me it smacks of a company with low cash flow that tries to take the order then order the goods themselves and send them out when they receive them. In this case I'd assume they got caught out either because the supplier couldn't deliver in time or the delivery was late.

My thoughts exactly, I would call that a good exercise in customer relations.

I think I hear a dummy being thrown out of the pram. :P

It's fairly standard practice.

I ordered a scope from a dealing, who how shall I say.... doesn't always stock everything they advertise?

Anyway I got the guy to go and get the scope and clonk it against the phone before I gave him me CC details - he appreciated my concerns and he also saw the funny side of it.

Strange thing is, when it arrived it a dink in the side :P (not really)

If they are going to mess around with a tin of pellets then I wouldn't put a big order in, unless the company had a good name and I was convinced it was a one off.

I ordered the Mrs a pink fishing rod for valentines, rod was only £10 but I paid £12 next day delivery, A week later I ring to find out that they have not had them in stock since Christmas, the chap sounded genuine when he apologised but surely they should have contacted me seeing as I would not be getting it next day.

The rod was apparently going to be in stock in the next couple of days but I cancelled the order, I spent £350 on sea tackle that week and because they couldn't even get a £10 order right they didn't see a penny of it.

I have had the same problem TWICE in the past 10 days, ordered a .308 bore guide from Target Sports, asked was it in stock,Yes,delivery in 48hrs, no delivery received so I queried it & was told it was out of stock & delivery to THEM was 6wks, a few days later I ordered a pile of reloading equipment from Sportsman Gun Centre in Dorset, over £200, was it all in stock, Yes, paid for next day delivery, not delivered, phoned to query & was told that part off my order was Stoney Point (USA) equipment & Stoney Point has sold their reloading section to another manufacturer in the USA, & there will not be any delivery to the UK for at least 3mths.

Everyone makes mistakes and they did have the decency to phone you. Cancelling the order hasnt got you anywhere, your still without the pellets. If you had retained the order and waited you could have put forward a case for a discount for the hastle. Now your left with neither.

Personally I think you have over reacted. :P

Can I say at the outset that I have no connectrion with Target Sports other than that of a satisfied customer. I also once owned and ran a large specialist engineering supplies company. 95% of the business was mail order.

I agree that payment should not have been taken from the card before the order was ready for shipment.

Problems arose when orders were received by telephone or in my day through the mail. I had 3 lads who made up and packed the orders. very occasionally it was not possible to despatch a particular item because the last of the stock had been previously sold in the shop before the order was actually picked ready for despatch. I guess that this is what has happened in this case. In my experience Target sports are an excellent supplier, we can all make mistakes, and they did make the effort to keep the customer informed. Unfortunatley some customers are never satisfied.

To be honest I think it is a blessing in disguise! Those predetor pellets don't have a good reputation from what I hear :D

At least he can now go and buy some decent ones.

I heard this snakebite,i use fields .22 5.52 in my s410,usually powerpells in my omega but was gonna try this new type.

the old "SABO" type with the plastic husk and applicator were an awesome pellet, but were discontinued due to a copyright law or summet.

heard predators are a bit wild after 25 yards.

prob stick to tried and tested your right.

(i know they don't fit the s410 mag.)

Well I see both sides of the story, And yes if you was looking forward to receiveing the goods you will be dissapointed to find out that after they had taken your money they had not got the goods to sell to you in the first place :D , AS WOULD ANYBODY, regardless of the amount of the order weather it is £10 or £100,

But at least they had the decency to let you Know mate. We have all worked with people that are shall we say not all in tune. but you should not make judgement of a whole company because of 1 mistake. at the end of the day we ALL make mistakes. :yp:

However if this had turned out to be a regular occurrence then I would totally agree with you.

The only other thing I have to say mate is, You can not beat supporting your local gun shop and buying from them. in the near future we might need to rely on them more due to the new law on mail order air guns being banned, (as I undrestand, But I may be wrong) No doubt you guys will correct me if I am wrong. This might put some of the mail orded companys out of buisness.

I hope you get a more professional service in future mate, (but we ALL make mistakes now and then)

Good luck

Kipper :good:

Order, not in stock, moan, cancel order - that's nothing mate.

I won't name names, but I have had (for one order of 20 purse nets)

Online order, 48 hr delivery

Wait a week, call. Call again, email, talk to courier company, courier tells me my address doesn't exist. Prove to courier company address exists, get told the goods are in the depot come get them. Drive half way across central London to then wait 25 mins to be told they have lost the parcel.

Call supplier, they call the courier and tell me it will be redelivered the next day, dubious since the parcel was lost. Call courier next day and they tell me I refused the delivery as damaged (I didn't, how do you damage purse nets in the mail?).

Call supplier and they agree to send out another load of nets. A week passes, call supplier who tell me to call the courier (different firm). Courier tells me delivery was refused as "not known at address". I call them, they promise to deliver the next day, nothing shows up, next day I go collect the second parcel from the second couriers depot.

About 12 emails, 20 phone calls and 2 needless journeys across London to pick up 20 purse nets. No idea where the original ones I ordered are, I was told I could keep the second lot as a gesture of goodwill, but I can't be bothered finding out where they have gone, and the suppler hasn't answered my last 2 emails :D

I am just glad I have them, even if it took 3 weeks and about double the cost in Congestion charge, fuel, parking and phone calls to get them

On the 8th of Feb I ordered a Logun Solo barrel brace from Target Sports as they was showing them as in stock on there web site. They took my money and I waited and waited I eventualy sent an e-mail two days ago. I got a curt reply saying sorry not in stock yet.
