Catamong
Well, what can I say, some really superb scores there, you guys all shot really well, as it is a tough course. I think I've won the prize that me & Jonesy had going...?? Obviously the Double Mega Breakfast that Mungler consumed in leafy rural Halstead made him shift up a gear and surprise us all...?? An excellent result from Steath Stalker, you're up with the big boys now, must be all the practice you're getting on those bolting rabbits..?? Also, well done to Tosspot, I correctly predicted you'd bring home the trophy, you obviously kicked the rent boy out of bed early last night as I suggested, let's see if you can bring home the bacon in real carrot crunching land at Hams Cross next weekend..?? As for Suffolk Shooter, well Matey, think positive, at least the ground will benefit from re-cycling all of those unbroken clays that floated past your barrels, and let's be honest, with a score like that, as Neil Kinnock said, "Things.....can only get better..!! I'd better stop taking the Mick as I've yet to shoot it, my turn will come at 9.00am on Sunday, I'm sure the weather will be atrocious, with strong winds and poor visibility all contributing to a very mediocre performance, still, I will soldier on and all will be revealed Sunday evening. pin
I think the overall performance of the day was Stealthy. Cracking pigeon shot, way better than me, by miles. He can shoot, but he beats himself up all the time and has been shooting way below his ability for a long time. Well done mate, you shot really well today! MC
Good luck on sunday Cat, It is a tough course and there were some easy misses along the way. More homework needed I think, for me at least

Worth pointing out that whilst there was a 5-10mph wind, it wasn't overcast at all, bright glorious sunshine for the whole shoot - not ideal conditions but I topped up my tan (as it is) nicely
BTMS
A cracking day, thanks to all who came. My score was a dismal 110. Tried everything to keep my eyes open 2 coffees redbull etc. More concentration required. Next time I am going to shoot it left handed Ordered some new glasses any targets over 50 yards I could see High lights of the day was Tosspots (can the mods change his handle) shooting. Some one who forgot their shooting jacket and seriously looked a PINK ONE A BRIGHT PINK GUN SLIP The wild life (no not you Andy) the ducks that would take grenades to shift pheasants rabbits etc that would not move out of eyesight line. And finally who can forget the alloy wheel.......................... Thanks again for a good day Brian
Jonsey
I was too scared to look at the scores last night........hanging my head in shame Sounds like you had a lots of fun and well done to you all.
pin
Just remembered shot of the day, well, the two shots of the day. Stand 10 I think on the black course. Looper from the right with on report midi, from the left overhead quatering away off the tower. If I hadn't seen it with my own eyes I wouldn't have though it possible. BTMS left the tower midi for what must have been a full 4 or 5 seconds, it was miles away. Honestly, it was 80 yards if it was a yard. No fluke either, he did it again on the next bird. Some shot that fella!
tosspot
Martin,Andy,John,Brian,Neil,Jamie and Ben A most enjoyable day thankyou all I think that shoot proved how hard keeping your head straight for 200 birds over 4/5 hours is, all except for Andy who seemed to get better and better as the day went on Brians messing about on that long midi needed to be seen to be believed So after all the hype and ribbing it's now over and to any guys in the S.East who are contemplating becoming a "usual suspect" please come to the next meet on the ? we promise you will have a cheeky time cheers TP
MC
Utmost respect has to go to anyone who has or is going to shoot the Essex Gun Masters or any other shoot like it. It isn't until you have shot something like that, that you appreciate the concentration levels needed. On the whole a well conceived and set up shoot well laid out and a good mixture of targets. Stealth Stalker
Yeah as has been said another great day with good banter & fantastic company, I was chuffed to bits with my score & have realised if I study the birds & decide where I intend to take them before I'm on the stand I can improve my scores Pin, I bet your glad I talked you out of putting your gun in the slip & sitting in the motor after the first 3 stands Highlight of the day for me was watching the Mung Meister straight the impossible high tower & ridiculous white dolly drop clay 10 yards infront, good shooting that man Especially as I had to follow him & only got an embarrassing 2 & that was ignoring the high tower bird & taking my 2nd shot at the white dinner plate a few yards infront of me I'm well up for the next jolly, & hopefully we'll see a few more PW members. Dunkield
Well shot lads, sounded like a top day out. From the pictures I can see why Mungler refers to the team as the 'PW Massive' (with the exception of FG22)
MC
Well Cat should just about having his squad called to start shooting so my prediction for him is 171/200 Good luck Cat.
Suffolk shooter
I hope he does well but I think 168 ex 200 I can see 32 clays dropped over 24 stands. Still regardless of the score he's taking part and that's all that really matters. Lot of people out there who claim to get this score and that but don't ever see them enter the big competitions. Catamong
Well guys, what can I say, it was a tale of two halfs, I started like a train, first three stands straight, dropped a silly one on 4, then went to the tower stand 5, powdered the midi off the tower but couldn't connect with the L/R edge on crosser, dropped 4 there, another bad stand on 11, orange R/L looper, got all them, but L/R slow white crosser, missed every one..!! Finished the morning course with a pretty poor 82, went and stood weeping in the corner of the barn wearing a big conical hat with a large "D" on it..!! Stoked up with a vey forgettable cheeseburger, then went out for round 2, even more determined to do better, dropped 2 over the first three stands, then went to the white L/R crosser over the lake with the green going away, well missed 3 of the white ones, damn & blast..!! Had another really bad stand on 9.??, simmo pair, orange incomer with L/R dropper, missed 4 there, couldn't quite believe it, had it all to do on the last stand, R/L long quartering away battue, orange skeety thing on report, (Digweed missed 2 of those battues and still shot a 97), smoked every battue, but missed 2 of the orange, I rushed 'em, should have let them get out a bit and rifled them. Final score on the afternoon layout was an 87, could have done better, final total score 169, slightly below my average, but both Jonesy and I predicted my score would be 170, so I can't really complain. Glad you guys enjoyed it, there was nothing there out of range, for the record I used Skeet & 1/4 chokes on nearly every stand, only twice did I put in Light Mod, (3/8), and I used 28 gram Viri shells throughout. A good deceptive layout, I had a few words with Faulds who turned up later in the afternoon and wished him well for the shoot off, 193, that's some shooting..!! Cat. MC
Well done Cat, 169 on that course is some shooting. There were some decpeptive birds there and some which I certainly found very hard.
Mungler
Indeed, good shootin there Cat. Interesting point about chokes and cartridges - I left in skeet and 1/4 for the whole course but messed about with cartridges - between 7.5s, 8s and 9s. On the 2nd lot of 100 (I can't remember the exact stand but it was the highest and fastest bird) and I got it with 9's and 1/4 choke. So, for clays it's 8's and 9's all the way for me - as StuartP pointed out, those extra shot make all the difference
pin
For some reason I always liked 7.5's but having thought about it a bit it's 8's and 9's now all the way. Seeing BTMS hit those going away midi's with 9's and skeet chokes, and they were no single pellet chips either, 7.5's wouldn't seem to offer anything other than less pellets in the air Well done cat, anyone going round there with only 31 dropped birds is some shooter. That's only just over one per stand which is some going.
Suffolk shooter
Well done Cat, 169 ex 200 is still a very creditable score. When we were looking at the Leader board, apart from Faulds/Digweed, there were only two others in the 170's so to get 169 is excellant. We now believe you about the toughness off the shoot and regardless of scores this time around, we're all up for next years. Strange you say about skeet and quarter, I must admit to thinking at one point in the day, "I wish I had my skeet gun". But in reality this may have only bought me 3 or four more clays. I used 28g 7.5's all day except for two stands with the rabbit on the first layout and that high R/L crosser on stand 6 in the afternoon where I used 32g 6's. I don't know about the others but I have to admit that I thought that the black course was easier generally with one or two really tricky stands especially that last stand with the Battue and CHEEKY little L/R quartering away orange blaze. Awaiting next year with anticipation.................. SS
