Hi guys Any idea of what you would expect to pay for this Cogswell and Harrison Avount Tout?

12 gauge, sleeved barrels 14" stock but only has hard plate on so room for recoil pad.

Wood work is in good condition standard scratch here and there , tight action , Ejector .

I just bought this of a mate but I want a back up plan if I don't get on with it.

Any approx evaluations .

Thanks.

Im not sure how to upload the other pics :(

Apologies in advance but.........English Box Locks don't usually to fetch big money anymore except top makes in A1 condition! Also knocking the price down would be sleeved barrels especially where you can clearly see where the new tubes have been fitted!, my own view would be that you will struggle to sell it at £400 unless someone is desperate for this particular gun/maker.

Looks like Wymberley is making an offer!:lol:

Looks as though I overstepped the mark. I looked on gun search. It has some nice wood and looks to be in good condition. The sleeving is not disguised by the usual method so it stands out. Can't understand why it wasn't re-blued; it would make a big difference. If 'twas mine and I got on with it, I'd have that done.

I will see how I get on with it.

I think I should be able to get the barrels blues for about 120 so if I can shoot straight with her I think we may have a long relationship . If not she will get no such treatment!

That's a nice gun . Have the barrels blued and away you go . Re sleeved guns do lose a bit of value but who cares ,buy a new beretta over and under and you will have sleeved barrels .

Harnser

My thoughts exactly . People turn their nose up at sleeving until they wonder why they have engraving 2" down there barrels hiding the sleeve on their brand new guns!

I recently tried to part ex an excellent condition English boxlock ejector, which is cased. Although the gunshop admitted that it was a "lovelly gun" and was valued at £900, he was not prepared to take it, quoting, "I have a shelf full of English boxlocks at present, and they are just not selling". A good time to buy, BUT not a good time to be selling.

I have no issues with sleeved guns but obviously the buying public do! Sleeved guns don't normally have engraving on the barrels to camouflage the joint, a lot of new guns of foreign manufacture which have engraving on the barrels have been made on the mono bloc system, which is subtly different to re sleeving.

The gun pictured in the OP must have been re blacked after sleeving, as to the best of my knowledge it cant be done before...so re blacking again is unlikely to improve the obvious difference between the original breech and the sleeved tubes?
