Less of 'lad' please, stay civil now.

Operating theatres are packed, back logged, working 24/7, apart from people needing routine op's that aren't prepared to go to hospital at midnight, they are prepared and ready for injury and emergencies, why are you prepared to argue about something you obviously know absolutely nothing about?

There aren't enough NHS theatres to fit the surgeons in, how hard a concept is this?

A consultant may well be seen quicker privately, come on, you're a clever chap.

so how could I be asked to "come back the NEXT day" a date I could not meet and then agree with him there and then to come back and have my revision the following Tuesday? do you want the mans name so you can ask him.

I'd expect it to be done by a health professional, but for the purposes you want it doing, by a private health professional, and you pay for it.

If you had aural problems, or needed a hearing aid moulding fair play, not for this, sorry.

its not something i want done, the bloke who was going to do my moulds looked into my ears with his tool thing and said 1 was fine 1 needed syringing, regardless of the fact im getting the moulds done for ear plugs the problem would have come to light sooner or later and call me stupid but id expect my ears syringing by the nhs.

Because a private hospital wasn't lacking a nurse syringing someone's ears out, obviously.

It's a completely reasonable amount of time to get something done to your ears, which is non medical, I don't even know why you expect the NHS to do that for you, you want some ear defenders, you need your ears clearing of wax, how does that warrant an appointment with an NHS nurse?

Pay for it yourself privately.

If it were for a hearing aid, then granted, but for this, no, you have no reason to complain.

How many consultants can you fit into one NHS operating theatre?

Trust me, you know little of what I know about this, from what I've read about you, you might not take that statement too lightly.

Let's see

And again, how is the medical turntable able to deal with that type of comment?

A nurse has been asked to syringe ears, let's look at his/her diary, what's more important, with the Xmas break coming up, let's syringe ears, rather than assess diabetic patients that may need help over the break, rather than calling 999, repeat prescriptions, making sure people who really need help, rather than ear defenders are going to be looked after aswell as we can, putting less strain on what is, obviously, an unappreciated, underfunded wonder.

Triage.

Doctors and nurses are not gods, we pay our taxes that in turn pays their wage so regardless of what severity my medical problem was yes I would expect it done on the NHS and as for diabetics etc my doctor doesn't spend all day treating them more likely signing sick notes to the ones really wasting NHS resources.

3 weeks for an appointment at my docs, but I got one the next day when he wanted to take £50 off me for my SGC renewal (med form)

North Yorkshire Firearms department have a different set of rules, they will not accept someone who charges as a referree, and told me that they would accept anyone with a gun licence who has known me for over 2 years,to sign for me as they are responsable people. Major breakthrough I would say. from Auntie.

It was for a medical report not a referee.

Just to throw a different slant on this,

I lost the hearing in my left ear overnight,

Went down to the docs, now at ours you have to tell the receptionist roughly what's wrong so they can direct you to the right person to see,

I told her, she said I needed my ear syringing and made an appointment with the nurse, in THREE weeks time, she suggested if I needed it quicker then to ring the hospitals walk in triage service, I did that but was an even longer wait,

So......after being told that I needed ear drops to soften the wax ( bought at the chemists)

3 weeks later I go to see the nurse, who asks me what sort of drops (as they will only do your ears if the right ones have been used)

She checks my ears and says.......there is nothing blocking your ears, she went and got a doctor who diagnosed an ear infection due to a heavy cold I had earlier..

No moral really to this story, just passing on my experience of blocked ears and the NHS

Oh and the next time the receptionist asks me what's wrong I will tell her it's hot nothing to do with her as I was misdiagnosed the last time :)

:shaun:

Oh and as far as the NHS goes, try watching 24 hours in A+E, that will show you what a great service it is,

A few years ago I spent THREE months in hospital and a further 4 months as a 3 times a week outpatient,

I think they are great (apart from the quack that put me there)
