39TDS
I believe Lidl are selling them and are pretty good by all accounts. My first choice would be Maplins, they regularly have deals on them so don't rush off and buy one if 3 weeks time they are half price. Get one that links to your pc via USB and you can upload it all to the web and see it from anywhere in the world. £60-100 will buy a decent enough one. 39TDS
http://www.maplin.co.uk/p/black-usb-wireless-touchscreen-weather-centre-n96gy They are on offer at the mo. I said they do offers regularly. Same as mine and mine is about 3 years old now. Top tip: download the free Cumulus software from Sandaysoft and use that instead of what comes with it
Mrs Sweepy
Hi thanks for the link some of the reviews are a bit off putting But am guessing for what it do their will always be a few hiccups How do you find the whole set up? I see one of the main problems was the screen reading is this a problem they all have? xxxxSuzy
grrclark
Have a look at the Netweather.tv forums Suzy, they are all weather obsessed and there are lot of discussion threads around home weather stations.

Mine is fine, screen is OK but I use it plugged in to a pc anyway so irrelevant. Only problem I have is the rain gauge stops working, not because it is broken but because spiders decide to live in it. It operates on a little seesaw mechanism and the webs stop it from moving. just clean it out and it's fine again. A squirt of fly spray inside it once cleaned out seems to work. If you are wanting to spend more money there are plenty of other makes out there.

figgy
Oregan scientific have been good for years. Outside sensor and built in indoor sensors in the main unit. Parents have one and it works very well. Figgy
timmytree
Don't bother with the electronic stuff, get a weather brick. A simple housebrick tied to a piece of string and hung on the washing line. If it's wet, it's raining. If it's swinging it's windy. If it casts a shadow the sun is out. If it's gone white it's snowing. If you can't see it then it's either foggy or some ****** has pinched it.

Mrs Sweepy
A friend of mine suggested the brick But I thought that might be a little bit mean, seeing as it a Christmas present Thanks for the help and suggestion everyone, its given me a few ideas to sort out in the next few days Thank you xxxxSuzy Though I might still stick a brick under the tree, just to see their little face when they open it Edited December 7, 2014 by Mrs Sweepy
