Davyo
Hi Davyo, I have been reading this thread with interest and it has convinced me to undertake my 1st NV build but sorry more questions. What screen would you recomend off e-bay 281557287553 this one or another? I have ordered the E700 camera, battery and a quick visit to Screwfix so well on the way. Thanks in advance, Ash Hi mate, the screen I use is about £13.49 item 181170533714, last I bought I got 7 for £8 each.Going to order a 3incher to try with this view finder that should be here tomorrow.Possably going to try and mount this on to the 4.3 1st see if there is much screen left, using this will hopefully mean I won't need to take my readers out in the field as I should be able to focus on the lcd using the diopter.Plus there will be no light from the screen, realy exited about this view finder as I have done some measurements and the head position is going to be spot on with my eye up against the rubber. If this works it means that everyone will be able to bring their screen forward within 5inch of your eye. I will get some pictures up hopefully by the weekend of the full unit. Edited January 13, 2015 by Davyo
activeviii
my battery has 2 leads coming from it,one for charging(female) and the one to plug in for power(male) can I use the female(charging point)as the power so that my male plug on end of black monitor cable can go in? Yes you can.mboth go to the same place and are soldered on top of each other. I always open the pack and check soldering. Not had a problem yet. Davyo
Well the view finder came today & wow,it has transformed the NV.No more having to put my readers on to take a shot, here are some quick pictures, the one with the cross hairs through the finder is central,it looks off but its just how i was holding my iPhone.I will be putting a 3inch monitor on as this will fit the viewfinder perfect.View finder also has a flip up eye piece so you can suit as normal. Really chuffed and the NV has ended up much better than i expected. Edited January 15, 2015 by Davyo
rabbiter
so how does that connect up then mate?.
Davyo
so how does that connect up then mate?. All i have done is move the screen forward so when i raise my head, my eye is straight on to the view finder. The finder comes with a plastic template that sticks on to the monitor & then the finder just click locks onto the screen.I have had to tape of the outside if the screen but it will be spot on when the 3inch screen comes. The view is fantastic but the objective was to be able to focus on the cross hairs without my readers. When i look through a normal scope i don't need glasses but if i look at x hairs on a screen i need them. This has solved the problem with it having a focus ring plus no more glare from the screen. I am now looking at finding a small monitor that will fit inside one of these view finders. The fix it to the back of the screwfix e700 housing and the that will slide onto the scope. If i can find some way of mounting the scope as far down the gun as possible, the plan is to have the viewfinder exactly where eye relief of the scope used to be. Just ordered 3 more view finders so going to be busy. Edited January 15, 2015 by Davyo

Davyo
excellent,so no cables to cut this time,lol........... Still need to cut cables and keep them short as possible but once they are done its simply the same cable with a DC male going into the battery. timmyra608
Davyo can't u mount the screen onto the back of the floplast connector and then mount the battery flat on top of the tube that way if u move ur scope as far forward as possible it will all be inline. I hope u understand what I mean.

I hope u understand what I mean.Yep,your correct, thats my plan i am searching for smaller screen to sink inside the finder and leave enough space in the back to put a diff battery. This then can be bonded to the rear of the e700 housing like you suggested. If we can get this scope mounted as far up the gun as poss so when i raise my eye to the finder it will a natural shooting position. At the moment in the position its in ,its not an issue as i have been shooting in all mannor of position for nearly three years with various NV set ups.But this view finder has just blew me away and given me so many ideas.Looks like i will be taking my note pad to bed tonight lol. I have a 3inch screen in the way so will have a go at doing something with that. Edited January 15, 2015 by Davyo
FalconFN
Oh dear, you're on the slippery slope to a scopeless rig , especially if you are moving the scope forward as the add-on looses some of its main befenits, ie, the ability to swap quickly between rifles. I haven't looked back since making a dedicated rig, much smaller, lighter, more comfotable and better picture. Go on, you know you want to....... dolphin
another good idea davyo i will be trying that with the rig i bought from you but am struggling to find a 3 inch screen unless its already attached to a camera atb dolphin

88ajp
Hey all a little advice if you will? I have purchased most of the items for this build bar the screen and torch. Now the question is what IR illuminator? The unit will be used on PCP air 12ft/lb up to 17hmr so up to say 160-200 yds (eye shine)? Options are T20, T20 + doubler, T38, NM800 or other. Thoughts much appreciated, Ash
