pigeon shooting at night

I was out lamping a couple of weeks ago with a mate and things were pretty slow, it was wet underfoot and we covered a few miles, bit a slog but great to be out. We edged round a wood and put god knows how many pigeons up, in the torch light they seemed to hover, probably blinded and were very close in. The same happened along a few of the hedges and a second wood. Not .22 material but.....

We had a chat and reckoned that you couldn't get more fun than lamping pigeons at night with a moderated shotty, has any one tried this, does it work, would a 410 be too small, bear in mind they come out really close. you wouldn't need decoys, camo netting, whirlies. It could be fun????

If there is a huge flaw in this please be polite, or not LOL

Many thanks for that, I have read it and I have even understood it, I was always told if you don't ask questions you will never learn!!, how true.

So where can I lamp feral pigeons then???? and would a moderated 410 do it??

I have been working on fitting an Led onto each of the Hypo Flops fitted on my magnet. I am nearing a final edition after many prototypes and some light failures. I am hoping to post some photographs of the finished article on the 1st of next month....................watch this space !

We have some some good beef sheds on the farm but loads of PV on the roofs' so probably not best to shoot up, ( where they roost)

Out of interest, you must have to pick up all the ferals on the underground, what do you do with them all, must be a pain in the a..se and what airgun calibre/type do you use, PCP... is it true that 177 is best on feather and .22 on fur??

taking it a step further just need the wing bars and neck band painting on should work a treat, questions! do I use ultra violet paint and will a 10w pigmy bulb be enough to "get them in"?

I've thought of using a UV light shining on the decoys to highlight the neck rings......
