After struggling on rape for the last few weeks, found a field thats been hammered next to industrial estate took my mate mike out for a day he always turns up to give me a hand, so I was hoping it would work out, 66 woodpigeon and 1 rook felt like a hundred bird day to us ! It felt good again for to get amongst the pigeon , we had the weather and the birds also good company can you ask for more? Really enjoyed today and the birds decoyed really well and the flocks are splitting up at last.

Well done , things are soon going to be turning the corner for a lot of people I think.

Had my first days decoying this year on rape , the centres have started to grow and some of it is between 9 and 12inches high ,ideal height to put shells on top, the temperature was 17 degrees and my bag was 31 , all in all a nice afternoon to be out .

The rape is starting to grow in my area too Marsh Man , but the pigeons are still not paying a lot of attention to it. I am down your way Monday\Tuesuday for Rockland WA agm and if the weather is good going to have a look to see whats on Breydon , though I fear with this south west wind most of the wildfowl will have left for the east. Thinking about taking the gun and see if the pigeons are starting to feed on clover on the marshes too.

A very good day. How interesting that you shot on rape and not drillings.

giving the drillings a go Wednesday jdog! The birds still seem to be more intrested in the rape fields adjacent to the drill at the moment

Well done, Stuy. The flocks appear to be breaking a little, here, too. I managed a decent result of 43 pigeons on rape, though they didn't decoy that well.

Maybe I will be shooting on drillings next weekend. Shame the Fenland wildfowler's AGM is next Saturday!

Yesterday I was on the Norfolk / Suffolk border ( not to far from your old public house ) , the rape is in a 200 acre block with a wood in the centre so with a bit of wind like yesterday you can normally get a bit of sport by putting a magnet and decoys well out from the side of the wood with the wind on your back.

The rape were got on the marsh is pigeon free although one block have got around 100 Swans on and going by other years they will be there till at least the end of the month .

The Widgeon were still on Breydon last week numbering into four figures and there were a few geese on the marsh but the main lot have been gone around three weeks now , and as for trying to get a few on clover I think you would be up against it as drilling started around here last week and very few pigeons have been going down the marsh. Good luck ....you never know.
