Mitchiet123
dismantle it and check for the fleur de lys symbol near the action or on the barrel. you can use normal steel shot its just the HP steel thats the problem in some guns. steve_b_wales
According to Edgar Bros, the importers, all Escort Magnum 12 Gauge shotguns are steel proofed.

Danger-Mouse
From memory full and 3/4 chokes are etched "not for steel shot" I have an Escort Magnum pump, just had a quick look and the full is marked "lead shot only". My 3/4 is in the gun atm but I`m pretty sure that is marked the same.

Ira
My local gun shop reckons shotguns are fine for steel shot as long as you use open chokes, My mate has just started work at the proof house, he was in forensics before and I bet a penny to a pound he would say, "if aint marked up I wouldn't risk it" In the same shop is a gun hanging up with a blown out barrel, how did that happen? IMO if it hasn't been proofed then there is a risk of serious injury and no money back either! (which might be the least of your worries) Is it worth the risk? By the way I had my first canada goose early in the year, everyone told me to cook it like this and do that and then give it to the dog. I cooked it like a beef bouginoune, which I can't spell, for about 4 hours and it was superb!!
hedge
My Hatsan Gen2 semi-auto has `steel shot proofed` (or similar) stamped on the top of the barrel and my full and 3/4 chokes have "not for use with steel shot" stamped on them. So - you need to try and check that your model can use steel shot (I know you are trying to do that!) and if it can, you must not put steel through your tighter chokes. Is your gun Gen 1, 2 or 3? and is it 3" or 3.5" `Magnum`?
