Tim Kelly
Hope they're providing accommodation to go with that salary. Nobody could live anywhere near Hampton Court on £25k a year.
John_R
That would be an interesting job, but for how long?
Danger-Mouse
"You will be required to live on site in estate accommodation" Hope they're providing accommodation to go with that salary. Grandalf
Roll = Gardener! Think you need to take your own spade or do they provide?
puntgunner
You'll be shooting on average 100 fallow deer a year, about 1K rabbits and in control of all the pest control and fisheries on 750 acres of private land. You will also be working with the Royal Parks in about 4K acres of their parkland and helping out with their call out and culls. Not just a gardener and you get to live on site. welshwarrior
Wouldn't have thought that was a bad job and a palace for a cottage.
Scully
I think it would be a cracking job; just a **** poor wage.
Bleeh
I think it would be a cracking job; just a **** poor wage. What? 25k with accommodation in London - that must be worth £33k of anyone's money. (No expensive commute either!) I'm guessing you've never looked into this sort of job, but I've seen jobs for underkeepers go as "self employed" roles at £8k p/a with "accommodation" (caravan). Scully
What? 25k with accommodation in London - that must be worth £33k of anyone's money. (No expensive commute either!) I'm guessing you've never looked into this sort of job, but I've seen jobs for underkeepers go as "self employed" roles at £8k p/a with "accommodation" (caravan). Fair enough. Take home £380 per week; a wife (assuming the applicant is male) who could also bring in a wage admittedly, possibly a couple of kids. It doesn't mention to what extent the accommodation plus bills, council tax etc, is subsidised, plus the applicant has to save enough from that wage to put aside for his/her own house when his/her services are no longer required. I admit it sounds like an idyllic job in an idyllic location, despite the long and unsociable hours which are the 'keepers lot, but I know quite a few 'keepers, and while most don't do anymore grumbling than the rest of us, one has recently packed it all in after starting a young family as he reckons he can't make ends meet. I have no idea what his salary or subsidies consist of except the big house that comes with the job. I'm aware obviously that I'm well in a minority here, but £380 per week net doesn't sound that good really. I may well be wrong.
ShootingEgg
£380 may not sound alot but im sure there are people out there living on that kind of wage and having a mortgage and bills to pay..

Tim Kelly
Probably not many near Hampton Court though. It's a pricey place to live.
