JDog
Mightymariner and I have had a couple of 'look sees' in the last few weeks. He reported that there were quite a few on the edges on the rape field next to the peas he shot last Wednesday and I have been keeping him informed about pigeons on peas elsewhere which are now well in flower. Today, on a glorious afternoon with temperatures on 22 degrees we met to look over the pea field. He had work to do and he shouldn't really have been there but a chance to see how badly old JDog shoots was an opportunity too good to miss. As it was I set up my hide and MM wandered around to an adjacent field and set off a rope banger which moved the birds on. There were good lines into the field but many pigeons landed short in some of the other well-grazed patches. Not many decoyed with conviction but enough came near enough to have a few shots. MM joined me for a while and his first two shots were kills. Blimey I thought I am going to get a real lesson here. Thankfully, sorry sadly, the wheels came off a bit after that. After he had gone home early to take his son to the cinema I had a flurry of activity from 5:45 until I packed up at 6:30. It took ages to cover all of the ground where there were dead birds and Jasper, who had been a bit naughty in the hide, redeemed himself by picking almost all of the missing birds. I picked 37 in total. It was very good to be out after what seems like an eternity.
aga man
Great stuff, it is good to read a report after what seems an eternity let a lone shoot some pigeons! Hopefully things will turn around this month as crops start to ripen! Well shot JDog and well done Jasper

pigeon controller
Well done JDog and MM it's nice to read about some pigeons being shot on PW, so you can still see the bead and not " Snow Blind" from all that painting . Jaspers sounds that he is working up well and will be a credit to you in the future. Keep us informed of any future Lincolnshire Adventures.
