littlerob
Like I said I shoot DTL with a bakial using 1/4 and 1/2 choke ouse to shoot it with my AL391 urika with half choke and average 18-20 clays smashed out of 25 I consider that good going for my shooting ability. I find it easier compared to skeet and sporting
deershooter
Mr deershooter Im quite tempted to take you up on that challange ........ I will take the challenge 100 DTL at orston shooting ground any Saturday morning Like I said I shoot DTL with a bakial using 1/4 and 1/2 choke ouse to shoot it with my AL391 urika with half choke and average 18-20 clays smashed out of 25 I consider that good going for my shooting ability. Ttfjlc
Out of curiosity are all DTL ranges exactly the same? or has anybody been to different grounds and thought that the trap was a little further away or stands a bit closer together etc.? I only ask because if they're not wouldn't it be fairer to have a neutral venue for the challenge since deershooter competes more at orston than Stevo ever has? walt1980
From what ive head it suppose to be at 16 yards? Might of got it wrong tho. Didn't get out to try it today :-( rained all afternoon! Am I right thinking the scoring is 3 pts for first barrel and 1 pt for 2nd?? Sure somebody told me that but I might be wrong. However the speed of the birds may be different. For instance my mate, an experienced DTL shooter, reckons that N&DGC has very fast birds compared to other grounds he shoots at. Not something I could comment on but if he says it`s true I`m inclined to believe him given how experienced he is. Am I right thinking the scoring is 3 pts for first barrel and 1 pt for 2nd?? Sure somebody told me that but I might be wrong. Yes that`s correct for competitions. Although on our relaxed Wed. night DTL sessions we just call kill or loss and score out of 25. shaun4860
It's scored 3 points for 1st barrel and 2 points for second barrel A straight score would be 100/300 (100 clays hit @ 3 points per bird)

I agree , Deershooters original post just said he would take anybody on ( a bold claim) it did not mention choosing the ground for the challenge , in fact as Deershooter is an experienced clay shot and Stevo is not then perhaps Stevo should choose the ground ! littlerob
Yes but in the grand scheme of things 18 - 20 is not a good score . I know its not a winning score but I only use one shot per clay like sporting and said for my ability of shooting its ok and its not with a trap gun either so 18 to 20 smashed clays for a basic budget gun out of 25 is acceptably
