fenboy
So how did this end up , its all gone quite , did you all turn up and who won with what gun ?
Guest stevo
Yes we both turned up . We ended up shooting 50 DTL in the end . As i had a reqeust from a farmer to go and shoot some pigeons which is where i am now . And dean (deershooter ) wanted to go on sporting later . So we decided on the 50 bird in stead . Im afraid to say the Trap gun lost . I shot with my 3 week old sporter . 1st round shot 24/25 with two second barrels 2nd round shot 25/25 with one second barrel Dean shot with trap gun 1st round 24/25 with four second barrels 2nd round 23/25 not sure how many second barrels Had a really good timi this morning . Dean is great bloke . A great shot and very easy to get on with . Also have to say its the first time at orston ( thats tye third clay ground ive been too ) The ground is fantastic . I will be back !!" Once again dean thank you very much for this morning and for being a great sport . Stevo
V8 90
Well shot Stevo good going there
fenboy
Well done Stevo , I had a inkling you would do it , just goes to show its as much about the man behind the gun as the gun itself . I would have thought deershooters score was pretty good so you did well to top it . Orston is a lovely ground ,I have only shot it once at the charity shoot but was very impressed . deershooter
We both had a cracking day, good company, good targets ,and good food to finish off with ,the only thing wrong was it was it was just me and Steve . Steve shot very well but what he didn't tell us on the forum is that he has been shooting 30 years although only recently on the clays he is very much "in the zone " with concentration which is a must for DTL go and think about walking the dog and you have lost one . Well shot again Steve ,let's hope we can get a few more people to join us in the future it would be nice to have a monthly challenge like an all round comp ,skeet comp and sporting comp ,no prize money just a good laugh with a breakfast or lunch on top . We could also have you members of the pump club join us for a round of skeet or sporting any one interested we could throw a couple of quid in the kitty and get a trophy I would be happy to organise this ,clay ground rules would apply (2 shots only). Or how about a .410 sporting challenge ? Any one interested for next month let me know Deershooter Edited July 11, 2015 by deershooter
James1983
I would be interested in joining in on that if I am free. Not that my clay shooting is up to me winning anything yet but it will be a good laugh.
Guest stevo
dean , you will be seeing me again in the near future , like I said today , the ground just blew me away from the moment I drove into the car park , the atmosphere is brilliant too , very friendly . I just thought everyone knows me as a pigeon shooter , I have said a good few times , I have been rough shooting for years , got my first shotgun on my 7th birthday , and shot my first pigeon a few weeks later , ( even know I still think it was the best on live quarry I have ever done ) Even though I love my pigeon shooting , I have been wanting to get myself classified ( ranked ) as I would like to try out and qualify for a place on the Lincolnshire team for a good ten yrs but just never got round to it , and I spose for the want of a better word .....I bottled it , don't really know why , three months ago I thought sod it , im going to have a go , And so 3 and a half months ago I started at my local clay ground shooting only sporting , until 3 and a half weeks ago they put a DTL lay out , that's when I started shooting Trap , and when I bought my CG summit , I have worked my a55 off . learning to shoot and think like a clay shooter . but still keeping the pigeon shooter instincts , Sam who was there with his daughter is Coaching me 3 times a week , Up until 2001 Sam was on the England team , he has been a Great fiend to me , he puts a lot of his time and his effort into my shooting . ( ive known him for 20 yrs ) so my goal for the foreseeable is to work my A55 off for the next 10 months and hope that I can be good enough to get a chance to represent my county ...........Lincolnshire . however ..................... I am also fully aware that I could fall flat out on my face and im taking NOTHING for granted what so ever . but Im willing to earn it Edited July 11, 2015 by stevo

discobob
As an idea for you, I participate in a Saturday Skeet Club at FD which is a 50 birder. £20 for the clays with the difference going into the Pot. Can be anything from a single squad upto 4 squads. Quite relaxed - about 3/4 of the requirements of a registered shoot in formality May be an idea for you to do something similar? discobob
There is a trophy that is shot for every three months for people who have shot a 50 straight. Yet to win a penny Edited July 11, 2015 by discobob
