PaulJC
I've gotta say, the anticipation of receiving my SGC through the door is killing me, i'm waiting for the postman on a daily basis like a kid waits for Santa, had my cabinet checked last week and was told to expect it in the post in a week or 2... I wouldn't mind but i have no idea what i'm gonna do once it's actually 'in hand'... Do i have a lesson as a certificate holder, buy some cartridges, go buy a gun... If so O/U or semi? New or S/H? lol The appeal to own a new gun is shocking (never thought i'd say that...) and I was holding an Armsan A612 Sporting earlier which i could have easily walked out with if i could have, it was new and shiney... Or do I get an O/U as a first gun, but then i couldn't get anything new for £5-600... But what about fit, do i worry about fit first, or buy something and shoot it then get it fitted later when i know where i'm going wrong... Is there a right way or wrong way to go about it, would i be mad to start off with a Semi-Auto? Or maybe i should just try to forget about it for a few days and go to work like a normal person and actually worry about these things once it does finally arrive... I'm guessing this is something everyone goes through on their first grant...
bruno22rf
IMHO-look for a used O/U Medalist-28" multi choke-will do just about anything you ask of it and, if you look after it, should barely be bothered by depreciation over a couple of years. I'd agree with that. Bought mine for £350, sold it 2 years later for £300 when I got a nicer gun.
Pigeonman1
You've done better than i did. I had paid a deposit on a lovely secondhand AYA XXV sxs before my certificate arrived! That did make waiting for the certificate to arrive a nightmare though!
PaulJC
I'll add the Medalist to my potentials list, which currently only seems to have Lanber Sporter Deluxe on it where O/U's are concerned lol.... Unfortunately today is not 'that' day either Working the next few days now so it'll probably turn up while i don't have time to do anything with it anyway... Gordon R
Second hand Miroku - better value for money.
Scully
There is absolutely nothing wrong with the Lanber Sporting DeLuxe; good solid workhorse, but as Gordon R has stated above, the Miroku has a much bigger following, is the more desirable gun of the two, is better value and will have a better resale value for the reasons just given. Also, while there is equally nothing wrong with the Medalist, don't buy one thinking you're buying a Browning, you're not. It isn't a Browning nor ever was, despite what some may claim. If you like the Lanber Sporting DeLuxe, don't overlook the Winchester 101 either. The Lanber, Winchester and Miroku share very similar handling, but despite being a101 fan, I'd go along with Gordon and recommend the Miroku; many more about. PaulJC
Thanks for all the input, i'm still waiting... To be fair though it's not even been 2 weeks yet just **** law i'm off all this week and it would have been ideal to go do some shopping and have my first couple of solo sessions on the clays on some quiet weekdays, oh well, it'll be here soon enough i'm sure... Romes
I wouldn't mind but i have no idea what i'm gonna do once it's actually 'in hand'... First thing is to sign it!, then have a look at what your options are
Livefast123
You'll pick up a mint Lanber for your budget, well built and reliable guns just without the Gucci brand name
