quick update on where we are, and its not pretty :no:

3 weeks ago i sent off the paper work to DVLA to register bonni in the uk, after trying last time they said i was just missing an MOT certificate, so got that done and sent it off with all the other stuff i had, a week ago they wrote back saying id not included any of the ID required, easy enough, then they said that it doesn't appear to have been registered with NOVA,(notification of vehicle arrival) so i rang DVLA up, they said when a car comes into the country it has to be registered with NOVA before they can assign a reg plate and register it, and that NOVA will also inform me of the VAT that is due on it, and also that there is a £5 a day fine for every day over 14 days that its not been registered with them, its been in this country now for 23 months, thats a potential £3400 fine coming my way :lol:

but when i bought it the bloke said that the VAT had been paid on it, managed to find his number a couple of days ago and he seems to think it was all done by the shipping company, as he paid £545 for the land rover, and there was £109 VAT to be paid on that to them, so he thinks that is it, but i cant make heads or tails of the shipping documents iv got, i rang NOVA up and they couldnt tell me if it had been registered or not, and id have to submit the paper work for it and if it turns out its ok then its ok, if not they ill work out the tax and let me know, but on the HMRC webpage you have to do it on it asks for importers name as though im the importer, and it asks where its come from in a drop down menu but doesnt mention Guernsey or the channel islands, and iv also read on the internet that as its not a new car and VAT will of been paid on it when it was new/first sold then there should be no VAT due on it, my heads in bits with it all.

I will be polite in how I phrase this but the DVLA are a bunch of Clucking Fowns. A mate that has had dealings with them in the past says you constantly get forms returned because details are missing only to find the "missing forms/details" are in with the returned paperwork. Then there was the computer says no beaut they had, basically it was something to do with changes to taxation classes or MOTs for vehicles. Anyway he phoned them up and they went through the yes/no answers to the questions. At the end they ended up back at the start but the thicko at the DVLA didn't accept this! So he said can you print each page as they go and sure enough they ended up back at the start of the questions! Great bit of circular software the DVLA.

So I hope you get a speedy resolution but I suspect you wont.

They are gimps. Iv had problems with them myself before seems like none of them know what there doing.

Emailed the shipping company last night at midnight and got a reply this morning saying that the previous owner who shipped it in paid the VAT on it at £109. So that's ok. Then they said informing NOVA was nothing to do with them. So I'll have to do that. Although there form is ridiculous. I'll have to ring them later. Now I just have to hope they don't fine me.

If your truly concerned about it all I'm prepared to take it of your hands for a grand :-)

My dealings with the DVLA have always been positive, but saying that I haven't registered an imported vehicle for several years.

Was such a shame when they closed down the local branches of the DVLA that you could actually visit and explain your difficulties too.

Best advice I can give regarding NOVA is to ring and explain in full, be prepared for some bs answer but instead of questioning their total lack of logic is to accept it on the chin.

All the best and good luck

my vin plates are legendary :lol::lol:

im going to remain positive and have faith in NOVA, i will ring them tomorrow and see what they say, and to get them to help me fill this weirs form out, only thing is i spoke to a jock the other day, it was embarrassing having to ask him to repeat himself 2 or 3 times every time he said some thing,

and i think id be hard pressed to find a series 3 CSW scrapper, or one that didnt cost more than the possible fine :good::good:
