Importing sierra bullets

Recommended Posts

Along while back someone posted the web address of a US company that exported sierra ammo, I did worked out the cost of it being slightly cheaper with postage costs with the advantage of having expanding ammo delivered to your door. Anyone have any leads on this.

Good luck getting them if customs open the package. At the least you will have a drive out and taxes. Once in this country they can't be posted on remember

Years back not an issue as very few packages were looked at

....posted on from whom?

TOTALLY LEGAL to order fron abroad and have them delivered to your door.

Saw one firm at the UK Shooting Show a few years back who offered this service. ..reloading international or some such.

There are also quite a few firms in the EU that can supply at much lower pricea than the UK ....plus they offer a wider range of brands than the limited UK trade bother to bring in....

I thought it was against the law to send expanding ammo in the UK, thus a UK law, if its not against the law in another country then the law isn't broken unless of course the law is actually stating that expanding ammunition can't be in the UK postal system. More research required I feel, its not so much the price of ammo but its availability and choice that's an issue, of course I'm talking bullets and not ready made rounds.

Correct - you cannot send expanding bullets "in the UK" - as in, internally - but you CAN receive it from a foreign stockist (as long as you CAN legally hold such bullet types of course).

Within the UK, the ONLY way to post such expanding bullets is when the addressee is an RFD, who can then transfer them to the FAC holder...but internally they cannot be sent to the FAC holder.

A similar law exists on the purchase of airguns - if bought from a UK RFD dealer they can ONLY be sent to the buyers local/nominated RFD - if bought from abroad they are delivered to the buyers house.

Makes as much sense as a lot of other UK laws!

im sure you will shortly be in business supplying the whole of PW with expanding bullets then.

So - how would that work without adding the costs of setting up as an RFD, shipping within the UK to buyers RFD, etc.??

The ONLY way I'd do it would be by doing a MidwayUK/BrownellsUK scheme - keep zero stock on hand & have the goods drop shipped direct from the EU suppliers to the buyer....

BUT, why pay someone else a WongaLoans type stupid tax? It's just as easy to long onto the EU bullet supplier sites as it is to log on here = keep the savings on UK prices & add to the options available by buying from the EU direct.

Makes more sense....less worry than buying from the USA, no ITAR, no import tax/duty....and the last package I had from Finland cost 7Euro shipping & was here in 48 hours!

It's not just a good idea for expanding ammo either. Quite a lot of specialist FMJ type target bullets at well under £10 per 100 (delivered)

Im just looking forward to the feedback of getting all that expanding ammo delivered to your door, please keep us all in the loop.

Defo keep you in the loop fister, think it may be a case of taking the van to northern Europe and stocking up, who knows what else would be available but unfortunately I only have in a total of 2000 rnds of expanding on my license so possibly the van idea wouldn't be worth it, not unless I offered an eu taxi service. Just testing the water really to see if anyone else had bothered in doing the same. I don't know if its a national thing but have found the selection of bullets available in UK getting worse, I usually stock up from Norman Clarks by pre ordering before CLA or Midland but lately he has been running low.

Aye - nobody in the UK ever bothered to read up enough on UK law to know what IS & ISN'T legal to import....!

The legal aspects:

http://www.thestalkingdirectory.co.uk/showthread.php/51806-Importing-expanding-missiles-from-abroad-BASC-clarify-position

...or go onto the BASC website/e-mail BASC for clarification.

One EU stockist:

https://www.shooting-supplies.eu/en

Or, the original US one that the OP may have seen previously:

https://www.reloadinginternational.com/catalog/index.php

...though being US based = ITAR = more cost for the export permit & more shipping costs & UK Import duty/VAT to be added to the potential cost saving.

But, it's still MUCH easier, cheaper & quicker ordering from the EU - and the mail order/courier costs are very low given the weights involved - and we're then open to sourcing both US bullets & some very high quality European makes that rarely see the light of day in the UK due to no official stockists here for them...

Put 200, 180 gr, 30 cal nosler ballistic tips in the order for me plase, please feel free to add a percentage. You CAN definately post them to me, i have expanding on my certificate, honest guv!

Are you an RFD? If not then NO - NOBODY can mail them to you within the UK

Any reason you cannot order direct yourself? As long as you ARE legally allowed to possess the expanding bullets then they WILL be cleared by HM Customs & delivered to your door

Saddler can't see any sp sierras on that link only match hollow points. So they can just be posted about the UK their not sect 5 expanding.

The EU link?

Not sure what caliber you need - but lots of soft-point showing up in .30 cal on their webpage:

https://www.shooting-supplies.eu/en/categories/c88/bullets-and-brass/rifle-bullets/sierra-bullets/standard-packing-sierra/30-cal-sierra.html

(it may be that you clicked on the bulk packs option - for units of 500 & 1000, etc. - in which case not many folk in the UK would need that many SP types)

Not from USA but www.alpinhunting .com from Europe will send expanding Projectiles.

E-mail them to make sure they have in stock what you need first before you order will take 2-3 weeks and will arrive at your home address NO PROBLEM and you won't be breaking the law unless (1) you go over your qouter

(2) you order a calibre your not entitled to hold

and they Don't have to be entered on your FAC

But my Firearms Department advised me to keep/print all emails and receipt to show the transactions.

When someone actually uses this service I will seriously be interested to hear how it works out.

Plenty of people use the service I described.

Why would you think a SGC and FAC holder like myself would post illegal doings on a Forum !!!!!!

And risk losing both SGC and FAC !!!!!

And members on here if you are on THESTALKINGDIRECTORY check on to see I'm Right

It's perfectly correct, you can have section 5 bullets sent from outside the UK as long as you have the relevant authority to possess them on your FAC.

The savings can be considerable, in my case buying Nosler bullets from suppliers in Germany and Luxembourg saved me over 50% of the UK price.

I use Alpin a lot along with Siram

who also ship bullets to the UK as well as there shotgun reloading products.

All above board and all through the post.
